Description:

At a meeting in Seattle, Washington, on November 12, 2011, Obbo Amin Jundi, the Secretary General of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), squashes the Oromo national liberation movement’s misrepresentation as a ‘secessionist’ or a ‘separatist’ movement. He reiterated that “neither the Oromo nation nor the Oromo national liberation movement has a secessionist agenda.”

It’s known that the enemy wages a war on the Oromo people to discredit their legitimate struggle for freedom and independence by labeling it a ‘secessionist’ or a ‘separatist’ movement (or tegentay in Amharic).

The man is entitled to his opinion, but I doubt he can speak for the oromo nation until elected. I wish I knew which faction he represents, though. Too many OLFs with the same name but opposing missions abroad but none in the bushes.

this is so called jandi’s own perspective! He doesn’t have any mandate to forward such a comment regarding the Oromo struggle!! Let him keep on puppeting what his Habashaa ‘googtaas’ tell him to say! The struggle for freedom shall blosom and the coming into being of ” The Democratic Republic of Oromia!!” is inevitable. Qeerroo, the new generation shall take over the leadership and lead the Oromo people to the final goal of building their free nation. Lumpens like Jundi are wagging their tails behind the Amharas to create a new OPDO!! Nothing is to be expected more than this from him!!

    Thanks our respected Obbo Amin,
Galatoomi you did the great job. You were the one who was in comand at the forum for unity and purpose. as a principle I was against such unity with the chauvinists, but by following your move, I am one of those who proud of you by speaking the hearts and our minds. True, our national demand is not the question of secessionist agenda as our foes and others misunderstand our central point.
Secession movement is a formal demand to void the existence of SOCIAL CONTRACT, but in case of ours no any agreeemets signed in behalf of the Oromo nation and hence our demand is the question of re-gain our Identity from the foreign occupation a similar to Ex. Yugoslavia Or Russia VS Eastern Europe. This is the central message what Obbo Amin has delivered. AS our Fayyis Oromia said, Oromos are bombarding like a fighting Jets in every direction.
    VIVA my nation and KAI!!

Let us not be carried away with unofficial presentation of this man. the man has a right to speak in behalf of himself as one oromo. However defining Oromo movement in such manner is unacceptable to the rest of us. the biggest legacy of OLF today and tomorrow is creating everlasting influence in Ethiopian politics by making Affan Oromo the major Oromo Identity. It is apparent to the friend and to the enemy aFFAN oROMO IS HERE TO STAY AND TO CONTINUE DI FINING OUR MOVEMENT FOR FREEDOM. olf WILL LIVE AS LONG AS 0ROMO LIVES. don’t BE FULLED JUST BECAUSE THE LEADERSHIP DIVIDED OLF IS DISAPPEARING. OLF IS OROMO AND OROMO IS OLF. IT IS A SENTIMENTAL FOR US. if it walks like a duck and if it talks like a duck surely it is a duck. this man did not speak in oromifa there fore he is not speak for oromo but did his own wishful thinking and don’t be deter for such minor issues and keep your eyes on the big picture that is our unity, freedom, and libation at last.

I listened to this guy’s speech and was quite baffled by his assumptions. He said there is no group or document that expresses secession. But I doubt he was truthful in this respect. I respect his views, but he does not speak on behalf of me as an Oromo. The issue of secession cannot be brushed aside as such. It would only make the lingering problem of the country in the hands of more radical elements. The best solution is to accept the wishes of the millions of Oromians and enact national self-determination by Oromo. Just to win few Abyssinian votes/support and dollars, one should not deny the fundamental truth. The Oromo youth has embraced OLF for the sole reason of national self-determination. To whatever faction this guy belongs, denial of national self-determination will tarnish his image and bring an end to his coveted ambition of maintain the Ethiopian empire!

A group is entitled to design its own political program or strategy. However, this group can not rewrite history. Obbo Amin Jundi tells his Abyssinian audience that OLF never had a political program that succedes Oromia from the empire known as Ethiopia. The fact of the matter is what he said is UNTRUE and WRONG. OLF original program as well as its “revised” (by few group) political program DOES NOT rule out session as one of the solution to restore Oromo’s freedom. However, that is upto the Oromo people to decide to form a new union or remain in colony or to secede from the empire. I personally don’t understand why some people pereceive session as a devil’s work. Having session as one alternative has been and its being entertained in other nation’s politics. Even in the U.S. some states or politcal leaders raise the idea of seceding from the union[U.S] Whether they will get a sufficient political support to accomplish their idea is another matter. I think Ricky Perry, the governer of Texas and one of the Republican party candidate in the U.S politics at one point was advocating the idea of seceding the state of Texas from the U.S. if certain conditions are not met. Here are my points. 1. I’m almost certain Obbo Amin was not with the original founders of the OLF in the early 1970′s. Therefore he knows nothing about the formation of OLF. In addition, he’s entitled to his or his factions current idea but he can NOT rewrite histroy. 2. Secessionist agenda is not a curesed agenda. As long as its mass base is supporting it it’s a nobel idea. However, by the enemy camp it’s always a devil’s idea and one should not be intemidated by it.

Mr Jundi’s well articulated and timely speech is rocking the wayyaans cyber cockroaches. Their character assassination propaganda ,by pretending as concerned oromos or olf members is blown around the world to complicate the unity of the people against the brutal government. Jundi’s call for unity against this regime is the biggest fear for wayyane by assuming this call leads similar to the Egyptian revolution Dear Jundi, wayyanes giant regime cannot be defeated by circling our struggle from the rest of the share holders. Your groups vision is the only way to tackle this enemy , every olf members and mature oromo politicians must be proud of you.You are the courageous and charismatic new born olf leader who speaks louder and clearer what many other elites digesting for years and years . Our organization is on the best alternative track, when we are aiming against the enemy our internal problem solves it self.

If what murata abdi above said is true–he claims to know Obbo Amin for a long time and he has been an active member of the OLF for 20 years. He supports what I said above in my previous comment which is Obbo Amin was not one of the original founders of the OLF and for that simple reason he can not say OLF never had a secessionst program. The truth is OLF in the past and today does not rule out secession as one of the alternative to remedy the century old occupation of the Oromo people. Period!!! If our people ultimately decides to live in union with Abyssinians that will be the solution. If our people decides otherwise (secession) that will be the solution too. Although I donot know Obbo Amin personally, based on his appearance he does not seem adult at the time the OLF was established as a front 40 years ago. Furthermore, his name is not among the ones who orginally drafted and formed the OLF political program. Again, as Murata Abdi said, Obbo Amin’s life span in the OLF is 20 years. That means Obbo Amin joined the struggle when millions of Oromos joined the OLFas it [OLF] entered Finfinnee. I salute Obbo Amin for climbing up the ladder to soon to become the “Secetary General” of the OLF. As someone described him “Charismatic” could it the said attribute that propled him to such a prestigious position???? I wish him success. But, I as an Oromian who does NOT support Wayaane as well as the Amhara organization; as an Oromian who SUPPORT and RELY on Oromos unity, I see Obbo Amin’s and his OLF faction’s idea, as recipe for another failure in our struggle for LIBERATION. i.e. I disagree with his and his likes idea. But, as Oromo as a person have nothing against him/them but love.
    Nagaatii.

I believe that everybody has the right to the freedom of speech. The real question regarding Mr. Amin Jundi is the right of representation. He has never been elected as representative of the Oromo people and therefore he cannot speak on behalf of Oromia and its people. He was not also the founder of OLF and at this point in time he is not also a member of OLF. He has no right to speak in the name of OLF. He can speak of course representing OLF-Change group, a group who tried to destroy OLF but failed miserably. I hope gadaa.com, which I believe is the best oromo website at present, will not remove my comments just like it removed my comment about the ChangeOLF-Ginbot 7 meeting in Seattle.

No one is created to be the founder of OLF nor one created to be organizer of this group the time is just was allowed those founder to do this mission so no one could monoplize or owned this huge responsibility, every body as oromo have a right to take mission and empower the the colonizers and emanicipate the nation from slavery, diffrent people have theur own tactics strategy to fulfil this mission this mission is not belong for special groups so before we curse and insult a person try to do somthing that benefit the nation. All the power is belonged to the entire oromo nation, the mission of the intelectual is to lead the struggle for front no matter his origin.

  23. Fighter-Jet said,

    November 26, 2011 @ 1:06 pm

    Obbo Waaqjiraa,
We just need to compare intersting three concepts: secession, independence and sovereignty. Let me try to put the differences in short as follows:
    - secession needs being legally part of one sovereign nation. Oromia has never been legally part of Ethiopia, so that Oromia’s question is not the question of secession in this sense. This is the point, which Ob. Amin tried to explain to the Habesha elites and to our naives!
    - independence is the separation of a nation from the other oppressive one, like the attempt of some Oromo nationals like Ob Galaasaa try to separate the occupied Oromia from the oppressive Abyssinia.
    - sovereignity is the right of the liberated and free nation to decide on the type of arrangement it wants, like the sovereignty of the Oromo nation to decide on its future be it within or without Ethiopia per referendum, this seems to be what Oromo nationalists like Ob. Daud try to achieve.

According to the right of the Oromo nation to its own bilisummaa (freedom) and sovereignty (walabummaa), it is not wrong even if Ob. Amin strives for the right of Oromo and Oromia WITHIN Ethiopia, as long as the determining factor is the result of the referendum. Thus, it is nice that our nationalists are bombarding Abyssinian elites from the three parts of our Fighter-Jet (the Oromo liberation movement): Ob Amin from the left, Ob Daud from the middle and Ob Galaasaa from the right! This is scary for the enemy of the Oromo nation. Imporant is that the three factions fight the enmey, but not attack each other. I didn’t hear Ob Amin attacking the other factions of the OLF, but Ob Galaasaa seems not to recognize the move of others except his own faction. I would like to advise Ob Galaasa and his group to restrain from attacking other Oromo nationalists and try to target only the Woyane. Of course, we do read a lot of Woyane criminal cadres camouflaging like Oromo, supporting Ob Galaasaa and attacking Ob Amin!

    Fighter-Jet, or Fayyis,
Day dreaming often is the start of hallucinations, Therefore, I am just reminding you to consider the validity of your assumptions and conclusions before you develop a full blown hallucinations. Your projections on others, including Obboo Galaasaa is nothing but a typical stances of those who are occupied with insecurities to validate their long term strategies to abort the aspirations of the Oromoo Nation and the objectives of the gallant OLA. Big cities street hooliganism is not a qualification to criticize those ones with determination, dedications and perseverance to serve their Nation with their own lives on the battle fields.
Glory, and respect for the heroes and heroines of OLA,
    Oromia shall be free.

  29. erana said,

Obbo Gammchis, whether you like it or not any party belongs primarily to its founders at inception and then to its current members. Others can support or oppose it but cannot own it. OLF therefore belonged to the founders in the beginning and thereafter to the members. You can oppose or support OLF but it belongs only to those who sacrificed and are sacrificing for its program. In the same way, OLF doesn’t own the Oromo people. It however believes to represent the majority vision.
As to the comments by Fighter-Jet I can only say that you have no idea what we are talking about. I suspect that you are outsider to the Oromo cause. Your comments are confused.
