I was daily following up news on the struggle of the Oromo people,specially by OLF’s. It is becoming clear (for me) that the 4 or 5 existing OLF’s have the following features:
1. Daud Ibsa’s OLF —————————-is Eritrea/Shabia version of OLF.
2. Kemal Galch’s OLF————————is Amhara version of OLF.
3. Lenco Lat’s OLF (A.K.A Dialogue Forum)—————————Tigre Version of OLF.
4. Jijjirama OLF——————————————————–confused???????????????????
5. Dhugassa Bakakko’s OLF————————————-Oromo version of OLF, the only real OLF.
Obboo Asmarom Legesse and a little back ground about him. When Eritrea won it’s independence from their twin brother ‘s colonialism, Obboo Asmarom Legesse had an identity problem, as he was not accepted by the EPLF cadres, (including Isayas) as a true Eriterian. Obboo Asmarom speaks Amharic as well as afaan Oromoo, fluently in addition to displaying a complete Abyssinian ruling class personality. Therefore, Obboo Asmarom was directly or indirectly compelled to prove his genuine Eriterian citizenship, even if could be making back-door arrangements where the Nation of Oromia’s interest have to be sacrificed!!!!! . No body can doubt that Obboo Asmarom is a dedicated Oromo nation’s historian, and a true admirer of Gaddaa Cultural heritages. But, some leaders within OLF thought they have a golden opportunity as Obboo Asmarom Legesse could convince Isayas to be the friend of the Oromo Nation. They were absolutely wrong. Few individuals of OLF leaders (by then) failed to differentiate and appreciate the difference between an academic amateur and the committed Oromo Nation’s advocate , In 1991, Utilizing Obboo Asmarom’s identity problem, Isayas succeed in manipulating Obboo Asmarom to accept his own agenda for OLF. EPLF-Isayas never recognized Oromo question as a Colonial question, but part of Ethiopian people problem. Therefore, events and actual shenanigans within EPLF or Isayas backed OLF segment did prove to go through division till becoming a total bargaining chip for Isyas.
Obboo Asmarom , yes he born from an Oromo mother and grew up In Nedjo-Western Oromia. But we need to be aware that he was the product of the old Abyssinia dynasty, and he may not be in position at any time in near future to alter his belief even if he admires the Oromo Culture, and is the citizen of his father side – Eritrea.
Eyob, thank you for challenging him. You did a wonderful job as a journalist. Professor Ephrem did not answer your questions. He, instead, was talking something nonsense. Who has been funding this group? Who are behind this group? Remember, this guy had been playing a big role when OLF and TPLF were signing the Transitional government of Ethiopia in 1991 behind the scene. He was participated in it. And the OLF was made to confine its fighters to a camp surrounded by Shaibias and TPLF army. Some of the OLF fighters were killed in the camp. Some of them died of turtures and diseases. A few were released with the help of International Red Cross. OLF, finally, dismantled as a guerrilla fighter. OLF was crippled. That was what this guy has been doing in the name of avoiding conflict from the Horn of Africa. We Oromo people have been a carpet for TPLF since then. We would have been in a better position if the OLF had’t signed the document.
After the charete had been signed, cracks started within the OLF and reached the level of fragmentations we are witnessing today. We have been on the side of losers. Professor has been good at turning the heat off when the water starts boiling. He saved the TPLF. That is what he is fond of doing. The TPLF has been benefiting from him ever since 1991. The TPLF wants him to defuse oromo nationalism so that it can rule forever whe its fate as a system ia about to die. Tesfaye gebreab currently said ” hewehat dekmootal. Yemigefeterew axxa.” It is true. He wants to prolong the life of TPLF. I don’t fathem why the OLF leaders in Asmara and be pages of Esayas Afeworki. They have always saying “gadaan gadaa bilisummaati” being in Asmara. It is weird. Now it is time to march on Finfinnee. They, however, still at the stage of “sergenya mexxa berbere qentxisu.”
Any away, once again professor Ephrem is back to do the same job. He is an Ethiopianist where by the Ethiopia should be ruled by Amhara or Tigrian. He wants our Afaan Oromo to be confined to the kitchen and not to be used in schools and universities as medium of instruction. He is well aware of the current trend among the Oromo people will lead to a breakup of the Empire.
What is his plan, then, to save immiyye Ethiopia? He believes the Amhara or Tigrian should rule Ethiopia. First, so long as the top is confined to this ethnic groups, Amharic is the official language of the country, and this weakens oromo nationalism. Second, the ruling class should continue settling the Amharas,and Tigrianson on oromo land and make sure the oromos are landless. Third, selling the oromo lands to foreign investors like Chines, Indians, Arabs and Westerns and ditach the Oromo people from their lands. Once they are ditached from their lands, they are no more oromo nationalists. They believe oromo nationalism will die a natural death in the smae way the British, France, Portuegal and other European countries did to many African countris. And finally, our nationalism dies since it is connected with land. It is true if we do not have land there is no Oromo nationalism. This is something that should concern every Oromo.
This is a deadly and dreadful trend; we Oromo people must fight it. We must fight it not only with pens or medias but with bullets. Otherwise our physical, cultural, spiritual, and political existences are at stake.
Professor Ephrem has been the enemy of Oromo people and will continue to be a cobra. And be aware of him. Our elders say “laalle garee nyaanne barree.”

What a revelation!!!! Both of your historical accounts, and objective analysis are tremendously indisputable fats behind the present and future political scenarios in the Oromo Nationalism, and the Oromo Nation’s journey in quest of Independence. Only few who claim to stand for the Nation of Oromia can pass the simple test relating to their individual self interest. And it is becoming more clear and clearer. As Obboo Oumar stated, the land question in the people of Oromia’s psychic goes far beyond simple ownership of the Land. In our cultural heritage, Land is the centre of our existence as an individual, as a people, and as a community. (Please listen to Zelalem Abara’s song “Ya dachee’) When the Abyssinian invading army started to snatch our land, we started to fight back in different forms, with varying self-defence mechanism. But we never experienced such deadly predicament neither in magnitude, nor in the level or devastation to us – the Nation of Oromia’s very existence as a people before.
Dear my people, this is not a time to second guess each-other. Yes, we had been under occupation for more than a century in which we lost all sorts of belongings to our neighbours. But this time, we heading towards not only losing our belongings, but our total …………you be the judge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( It is very hard for me even to spell it.)
It is very important to know about Jaarssaa clearly. Jaarssaa is the person in the community that selected to solve the confilict between groups among commonities. This individual is selected depending on his GOD given potential and his experience to solve the problem. The indepent variable for this selection is Individuals capcity and experience to solve the problem . This is basic crateria to involve in jaarsuumaa activities in local community.
The process of jaarsuumaa first of all start when both bodies return back to their position before the conflict. Then after that Jaarssaa is look into the root of the problem. Therfore, let us see the approach of Professor to the jaarssuumaa. Is this professor ask wayane to return back to their postion before they occupy oromia? If not how the professor is going to bring togther while still one part is ocuupying the others postion and right. The wayanes are still occupying oromia; so what is this jaarssuuma?
The example the profesor is mentioning about his friend form ogaden; that his friend was telling him about the situation forced by the other part in order to defen his birth right given to him by God. His friend is forced to buy arm in order to defen his birth right form the enemy. But the professor is describing as if his friend bought arm to kill his own ogadenian brothers and sisters.
The other phrase the professor mentioned is that Oromo is every where in Ethiopia; that means you do not need to have independent Oromia; this the common phrase used by Abysinian occupiers. The other phrase is that the Oromo who has not been in school are good. The other issue is that, does ethiopia a country? But in Oromo we call the country of Oromo; Oromia. The naming of the country is depend on the name of the nation, like from the Oromo nation Oromia. Is there the ethnic group called ethiopia? I think the professor has to define cleary the naming of the country.
Is there ethiopian culture? There is Oromo culture, Amhara culture, Tigre Culture, and so on. Does the professor telling us the same thing the Abysinian has been telling us for the last 120 years using Oromo phrase? Does the professor analysis about economy? Is the economy means to build Megaa City. I am sure if the Professor want act in jaarssuumaa he should be analysiss the economy of the majority, This man even does not understand the impact the flower farm bring to land and the local community. The professor is try to tell us that what is going in ethiopia is the work of EPRDF; but this the result of the impact of the struggle by the Oromo people. The professor is expecting that the Oromo People to say I can rule my contry Oromia. This is telling us that Oromo can not rule his country. This is preaching going on by the Abysinian rulers for the last 120 years. I think the professor should sit down and study about democratic system; and he is stressing about unity without democracy.
