Political Anguish in Ethiopia Should Come to an End
The following press release is from the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF – OromoLiberationFront.org).
October 2011 (OLF Info Desk) – Meles Zenawi, the head of dictatorial regime in Ethiopia, once again reaffirmed that an independent and peaceful struggle in Ethiopia is intolerable. In his shivery response for questions raised from the single member of the opposition party-MEDREK representative in the rubber-stamp parliament, Meles reiterated that there is no way to a viable peaceful struggle under his regime, except all the oppositions surrender to the ruling party’s interests. According to his warning, most of the MEDREK leadership members, who are from the Oromo and Amhara nations, have links with the OLF and Ginbot 7. Making such accusations without any tangible evidence is not difficult for the EPREDF regime, because, apparently as they do, they never bother to blackmail the opposition parties by preparing fictitious documentary films intended to attack the opponents. Accordingly, in the same session he promised the public that there is a documentary film coming soon to substantiate the needed ‘evidences’ in order to imprison some more opposition figures, those alleged having links with the OLF and other ‘outlawed’ organizations.
It is obvious that Mr. Zenawi has big fear that always forces his utterance tone to shivery when he mentions the name of the OLF in his so many speeches and interviews. Why does he fear to that extent? He announced several times that the OLF is gone, and will not come back. Why so many warnings always in apprehension? Why can’t he deliver a speech in relaxed atmosphere when he comes to the case of the OLF? The answer is short and clear. Meles knows that OLF is the only political force that has challenged the regime nonstop for the last twenty years. His nightmare is that the OLF has untapped sufficient potential and capacity that poses real and eminent danger to his fragile regime at any time. He knows very well the fact that OLF has an enormous support all over Oromia; unwavering support even when OLF was under difficult conditions for several times. The problem is, he doesn’t want to admit this truth publicly. It is this fear buried inside his spine that makes him always shiver emotionally.

It is hard to expect miracle from this tyrant’s regime. Again, It’s troubling that we still didn’t get the game that has been played by the regime to suppress the Oromo people for so long. It’s all about OLF????

Abdi,
where is your problem? I think Oromo liberation is inevitable and the possible future three types of sovereignty are not as such disadvantageous for Oromia; we can just relax and choose one of them:
- the Hindi style: the Hindi people liberated all nations and nationalities in their region and named the whole country as India, made the Hindi language as the working language of the Indian federation and of course divided the national area of Hindi into multiple federal regions. Why not we, the Oromo people, liberate the whole nations and nationalities in the Ethiopian empire, call the whole country Oromia and promote Afaan Oromo to the working language of the federation replacing Amharinyaa, with the five Odaa’s of Oromia being separate federal regions?
- the English style: the English people liberated themselves from the 700 years rule of the Roman empire, forged England as an autonomous region and united it with the neighbouring others to form the british United Kingdom, they also made English language the working language of the Kingdom. Can’t Oromia being autonomous, free and independent from the alien forces be united with the neighbour autonomous regions to forge the Cushitic Ethiopian union, similar to that of the United Kingdom and make Afaan Oromo the working language of the union replacing Amharinyaa?
- the Ruski style: Russians dismantled the Soviet union and established the Russian federation, which uses Russian national language, the federation which still does have an influence on its neighbours, because of its economic and military strength. Does this way of dismantling the Ethiopian empire and fostering Gadaa republic of Oromia to have a further influence over the liberated neighbouring countries more advantageous than the first two types of sovereignty?
As far as I am concerned, all the three ways are not harmful, but the decision must be made by the politically conscious Oromo polity and Oromo public per referendum, when the time comes.

Well analysed paper and the conclusion is good one .”How long should we remain blind and deaf”.Here we are talking accountablity and responsiblity. The responsiblity is by any means how to go forward and get away with the despot and his cronies to bring about freedom to the people and the accountablity is knowingly when we screw up the struugle of the people. If every one were honest and for the libration of the people there would have not been TPLF to suppress all Ethiopians that includes the Oromoo people.Still we can do it .So let us know what vission we put up for the people to be free and deside their own destny by electing whom they favior.Thanks.

Walab, You can ‘relax’ and choose one of them? Ofcourse, if you really work your assignment well and on time you could have options.

Interestingly, the three Abyssinianst groups (the Amhara, Tigrai and Eritrean elites) have got only one option in their political struggle: the Amhara elites can only sing about the Hindi-style for they know that Amharinya has got the privilage to be the federal language of the empire; the Tigrean elites can neither have the privilage to opt for the Hindi-style nor the capacity to live alone as an independent nation in order to choose the Ruski-style, so they do stick to the English-style; the Eritrean elites as a minority at the periphery are so insecure to live within Ethiopia so that they had only the alternative of separation (the “Ruski-style”). But the Oromo and Oromia, being the majority at the center, can play all the three cards (the Hindi-style, English-style and Ruski-style) as long as the rule of the game in the region will be Freedom and Democracy. So, let’s Oromo people use our advantage and struggle with all the pro-freedom and pro-democracy forces of the Empire to come to the position of voting for one of the three options we do have!

Why do we form alliance with someone who can not contribute a penny to oromos struggle and as a result antagonize the oromo mass ?. For years we had been told that amhara was our core enemiy that stood in our way and we hated everything associated with amhara. The current illegitimate regime had distroyed all the pillars of amhara as a result amhara lost power and weak if this is true why do we need them ?. In my oppenion, they will just use our potential to cling to power and will treat us the way they did it before. I think it is not a wise move by our politicians to make that kind of move. What i believe in is that if we oromos come together from all walks of life and form one strong organization with vision for oromos, we do not need amharas that had treated us for so long as a second class citizens. We need to fasten our belt and roll our sleeves and work on that.

it’s so sad to see the majority oromo still in fear of the minority amhara.our politicians are blind and i think are suffering from inferiority complex. Plus they’re good for nothing except talks. Shame on the OLF leaders of our day. What would the likes of waaqoo guutuu do if he were alive. I’ve lost all hopes and think the oromo cause has dead with the death of our hero fore fathers.

For the political anguish in Ethiopia to Come to an end, no question that Oromo nationalists from all walk of life should cooperate and coordinate our struggle!
———–Here is The Way How Oromo Nationalists are Bombarding the Gezhii Gujile (the Woyane)———-
After many years of conflicts in the Oromo liberation camp, which were exploited and used by the enemy of the Oromo nation, now it seems that all Oromo nationals from the Oromo political spectrum, from the left wing to the right wing, are coopertaing with each other and coordinating our efforts in order to liberate the Oromo people from the current fascist and racist ruling regime. Specially, it is encouraging to observe the still strong Oromian Students’ Movement (OSM), including the Qeerroo movement for freedom and democracy, being part and parcel of the ongoing Oromo liberation movement (part of our Fighter-Jet). I think we can present this Fighter-Jet as an airkraft with the differentiated three parts of its left-wing, with one part of its middle body and with differentiated three parts of its right-wing. The skilled pilot of the fighter-Jet is our famous mindset of bilisummaa/freedom, the OLF. I would like to personify the three parts of the aircraft with the following prominent Oromo nationalists.
1) The left wing (pro-’independent Oromia without Ethiopia’):
- Galaasa Dilbo, who strives to achieve an independent Oromia seemingly disregarding the possible regional union with the neighbouring nations, specially with the nations who are now living within Ethiopia. In case this position is not against such a union, then there is no clear difference with the position of Ob Leenco.
- Daud Ibsa, who is open for both Leenco’s and Galaasa’s positions as long as the Oromo people will decide per referendum.
- Leenco Lata, who advocates a nationally independent Oromia within a regional union of free nations in the Horn of Africa (around Oromia).
2) The middle body (pro-’independent Oromia’ either within or without Ethiopia):
- Fayyis Oromia and his likes, who are open for all the positions of the left and the right, as far as the determiners in this choice are the Oromo public at large. This part of the fighter-jet believes that neither an ‘independent Core Oromia’ nor an ‘integrative Cush Oromia’ is disadvantageous as long as bilisummaa of the Oromo people will be realized and further respected.
3) The right wing (pro-’independent Oromia within Ethiopia’ = ‘integrative Oromia’):
- Bulcha Dammaqsa, who wants to have an integrative Oromia in a form of an autonomous Oromian state within Ethiopian federation.
- Marara Guddina, who once said “Oromian national autonomy within Ethiopian federation is not bad, but we don’t need to die for it”; he was considering that even Gondar and other northern parts of the empire are parts of Oromia; accordingly, he wants to realize either Nagaasso’s or Bulcha’s position per Oromo public verdict.
- Nagaaso Gidaada, who tries to achieve through his UDJ party an integrative Oromia = the whole Ethiopia, without necessarily having an autonomous Core Oromia within Ethiopia. All individuals and institutions with such goal can be classified here.
But, in order to accomodate the move of these different Oromo positions regarding our future type of sovereignty (walabummaa) of Oromia, Oromo nationalists have to be able to concentrate on the common denominator of all the positions, i.e on bilisummaa of the Oromo people. To comprehend what I do mean, we just need to compare the following interesting three concepts: secession, independence and sovereignty. Let me try to put the difference in short as follows:
- secession needs the precondition of being legally part of one sovereign nation and being a minority nation at the periphery. Oromia has never been legally part of Ethiopia and it is neither a minority nation nor at periphery unlike Tigrai. So Oromia’s question is not a question of secession in this sense. This is the point, which Ob. Amin Jundi recently tried to explain to the Habesha elites.
- independence is the liberation of a subjugated nation from the other oppressive one, as the case we do see in the attempt of some Oromo nationals like Ob Galaasaa trying to emancipate the occupied Oromia from the oppressive Abyssinia.
- sovereignity is the right of the liberated and free nation to decide on the type of arrangement it wants, like the sovereignty of the Oromo nation to decide on its future, be it in a form of an independence within or without Ethiopia; this seems to be what Oromo nationalists like Ob. Daud try to achieve.
According to the right of the Oromo nation to its own bilisummaa and walabummaa, it is not wrong if Ob. Amin or Gen. Kamal strives for the right of Oromo and Oromia within Ethiopia, as long as the determining factor is the result of the referendum. Thus, it is nice to see that our nationalists are bombarding tyranic Abyssinists from the three parts of our Fighter-Jet:- Gen. Kamal, Ob. Daud and Ob Galaasaa from the left wing; Ob Fayyis Oromia and co from the middle body; as well as Dr. Nagaaso, Dr. Marara and Ob Bulcha from the right wing.
This is really very scary for the enemy of the Oromo nation. Important is that all the three parts do fight the enemy, but do not attack each other. In the currently ongoing rhetoric, I didn’t hear Ob Amin attacking the other factions of the OLF. But, it is clear that we do read nowadays a lot of Woyane criminal cadres camouflaging as Oromo in order to sow a discord among Oromo nationals by trying to support one faction of the OLF and attack the others, as well an attempt of a vice versa!
