Oromia-Ethiopia: The Oromo Liberation Movement is Like a Fighter Jet Shooting from Its Three Parts
By Fayyis Oromia*
There was a time, when the Oromo freedom fighters wanted to liberate the Oromo people from any sort of subjugation in Ethiopia without trying to demarcate a national area called Oromia; for instance, we can mention the movements like the Raayya Oromo revolt, the Bale Oromo resistance, the initiation of Maccaa Tulama Association, the Oromo struggle led by ME’ISON and IC’AT as well as the formation of ENLF (Ethiopian National Liberation Front), which was the forerunner of the OLF. Then, we came into a situation, which helped some Oromo nationals perceive, accept and respect the existence of an Oromo national area (Oromia) in the Ethiopian empire, but yet without an attempt to separate this area from Ethiopia, the empire, which is said to be build by the blood and bone of the Oromo people. Now, we are in the era, when we started to think, not only about the existence of the Oromo national area, but also about the necessity of liberating this region in a form of an independent Gadaa republic of Oromia. These three visions (Oromia is the whole Ethiopia, Oromia within Ethiopia, and an independent Oromia without Ethiopia) as well as the respective political movements are still entertained in the Oromo society at large; the common denominator of the three forces being the struggle for an unconditional bilisummaa/freedom of the Oromo people from any sort of political domination, economic exploitation and cultural suppression.
That is why I do now think that the Oromo liberation movement is like a fighter aircraft (jet), which has the left-wing, the middle-body and the right-wing as three important parts shooting at the enemy. The left-wing wants to change the whole Ethiopia, name the country as Oromia and promote Afaan Oromo to a federal/national language of the country; the middle-body wants to liberate Oromia within Ethiopia and make it be the leading nation-state of the whole country; and the right-wing wants to establish an independent Gadaa republic of Oromia, which will have the influential position in the whole region of the Horn of Africa. These three parts of the Oromo liberation movement are now trying to harmonize their moves against our common current enemy, i.e. against the fascist, Abyssinianist and racist Woyane. Accordingly, we do now find the Oromo liberation movement in all the spectrum of the opposition parties and liberation fronts against the oppressive regime (in the left-wing, like the Oromo nationalists, who are active in AEUP, EPPF, EPRP, G-7 and UDJ; in the middle-body including those organized under OFDM, OLF-KY, OPC and UEDF of MEDREK; as well as in the right-wing, such as the freedom fighters in OLF-QC, ONLF, ULFO). Surprisingly, the main-body of the OLF (OLF-SG) seems to represent the whole fighter jet coordinating, accommodating and cooperating with all the three parts. This reality persuades us to think that the Oromo liberation is inevitable, and the possible future three types of our sovereignty are not as such disadvantageous for Oromia and the Oromo people.
The three parts of our fighter jet are the results of the three approaches we, the Oromo nationals, do have towards our history. As once written on Gadaa.com, it seems that we are treating our history in three dimensions: (1) as only a common proud history of Oromia and Abyssinia, such as the Adwa Battle; (2) as only a conflicting parallel history of Oromia and Abyssinia, such as the Minilik invasion and the so-called Oromo expansion; (3) as both common proud history and conflicting parallel history of Oromia and Abyssinia. Now, we do see that the consequences of the above three approaches are the three possible destinies regarding future Oromian sovereignty. If we want to achieve our bilisummaa efficiently, despite these different views, we have to firstly try to fight together for our common freedom from the Abyssinianist elites’ system of domination, and then settle to choose one of the following styles/types of sovereignty based on the version of Oromo history we respectively do have in mind. It is clear that:
- those, who do believe in only the common proud history, tend to choose the liberation of Oromia in the Hindi style. The Hindi people liberated all nations and nationalities in their region and named the whole country as India, made Hindi the working language of the Indian federation and, of course, divided the national area of Hindi into multiple federal regions. Why not we, the Oromo people, liberate the whole nations and nationalities in the Ethiopian empire, call the whole country ‘Oromia’ and promote Afaan Oromo to the working language of the federation, with the historical local Odaa’s of Oromia (Odaa-Bisil, -Bulluqi, -Bultum, -Gaarres, -Makodi, -Nabee and -Roobaa) being the future separate federal regions of the country? Of course, this seems to be concentrating on only regional integration at the cost of national independence.
- those, who tend to accept both the common proud part and the conflicting parallel part of our history, opt for the liberation in the English style. The English people liberated themselves from the 700 years rule of the Roman empire, forged England as an autonomous region and united it with the neighboring others to form the British United Kingdom’ they also made English the working language of the Kingdom. Can’t Oromia, being autonomous, free and independent from alien forces, be united with the neighboring autonomous regions to forge a Cushitic Ethiopian union, similar to that of the British United Kingdom and promote Afaan Oromo to a working language of the union? This is a political move which possibly promotes both a national independence and a regional integration.
- those, who do perceive only the conflicting parallel history, prefer liberation in the Ruski style. The Russian elites dismantled the Soviet union and established the Russian federation, which uses the Russian national language, the federation which still does have an influence on its neighboring nations, because of its economic and military strength. Does this way of dismantling the Ethiopian empire and fostering the highly wished independent Gadaa republic of Oromia to have a further influence over the other liberated neighboring countries more advantageous than the first two types of sovereignty? Moreover, this type of sovereignty looks like favoring a national independence without envisioning the possible regional integration.
We, all Oromo nationals, are entitled to choose, what we do believe is the best for our nation; what matters, at last, is, of course, the voice of the Oromo majority. I think national independence as well as regional integration should be the agenda of the Oromo people, in contrast to the federation or separation goal of the Tigrayan elites. Interestingly, the three Abyssinianist groups (the elites of Amhara, Tigrai and Eritrea) have got only one option respectively in their political struggle: the Amhara elites still can only sing about the Hindi-style for they know that Amharinya has got the privilege to be the federal language of the empire; the Eritrean elites, as a minority at the periphery, were so insecure to live within Ethiopia so that they had only the alternative of separation (the Ruski-style); the Tigrayan elites can neither have the language privilege to opt for the Hindi-style nor the capacity to live alone as an independent nation in order to choose the Ruski-style, so they do stick to the English-style. But, the Oromo and Oromia, being the majority at the center, can play all the three cards (the Hindi-, English- and Ruski-style) as long as the rule of the game in the region will be freedom and democracy. So, let us, the Oromo people, use our advantage and struggle with all the pro-freedom and pro-democracy forces of the Empire against the Woyane to come to the position of voting for one of these three options we do have.
As far as I am concerned, all the three ways are not harmful, but the decision must be made by the politically-conscious Oromo polity and Oromo public per referendum, when the time comes. This short essay is a bitter pill I wanted to present to the Oromo foes, who are nowadays delighted by observing a division of the Oromo liberation vanguard (the OLF) into three. For their information, OLF has got in its pocket, from the very beginning, only one kaayyoo (goal) of bilisummaa/freedom, which, at the same time, can be interpreted as three kaayyoo’s of walabummaa (three types of sovereignty), and it plays with these three cards of walabummaa based on the objective reality it is in, i.e. according to the “here and now” of the situations. Even though the one kaayyoo of bilisummaa is the Oromo national self-determination, the three interpretations of the kaayyoo of walabummaa are:
- Oromian national independence within a regional union (internal self-determination of the nation),
- Oromian national independence without a regional union (external self-determination of the Oromo), and
- Oromian citizens’ independence to have a referendum on this issue of national ‘independence within a union’ Vs. ‘independence without a union.’
We know that OLF permanently advocates for all the three: the independence of Oromia, the Oromos’ right to self-determination, and the union of nations in the empire/region. It emphasizes one of these three interpretations according to the condition of the time (according to the Zeitgeist). Whenever Abyssinianist elites become arrogant and start to sing about the unconditional unity of their empire with suppression of Oromos’ national rights, it stresses the necessity of an independent republic of Oromia, of course, undermining the possible union. The logic behind this position is that whenever there is suppression, there will be a move for separation. When some reasonable politicians from different nations in the empire start to recognize the God-given right of the great Oromo nation to self-determination, the OLF starts to play the card of self-determination, i.e. an appropriate decision per referendum either for ‘independence within a union’ or ‘for independence without a union.’ Now, the one structural OLF, which we, Oromo nationals, have believed to own, has been divided into three, each of the factions just taking as a goal one of the three interpretations of the kaayyoo regarding walabummaa of Oromia:
- OLF1 of Ob. Daud appears to have the Oromo national self-determination as its goal (being open for both an ‘independence within a union’ and an ‘independence without a union’ as far as the Oromo majority will decide for one of the two).
- OLF2 of Ob. Dhugaasaa seems to make no compromise on an ‘independence without a union.’
- OLF3 of Gn. Kamal looks like having a decision, which favors an ‘independence within a union’ of nations in the empire/region so that it tries to seek a cooperation with the Oromo nationals in the ruling party, OPDO, and, at the same time, it strives for a possible alliance with the reasonable “pro-unity and democratic” Habesha opposition forces.
Anyways, a merdo (bad news) to the foes of the Oromo liberation movement is that the one/three OLF(s) will never give up the struggle for the right of the Oromo nation to self-determination until we, the Oromo people, become the determiners of our own destiny, be it within the Ethiopian union or without the union. Otherwise, let’s differentiate the ongoing rhetoric from the real conviction. We have heard certain Oromo politicians talking about the “fact” that the Oromo people do not want “secession.” But, I do consider that such talking about the Oromo wanting independence or not is a wrong generalization. One thing we need to know as a fact is that almost all Oromo politicians (including those who do make the above mentioned rhetoric), deep in their hearts, believe in the right of the Oromo nation to self-determination. This is the hallmark of Oromo nationalists, and it is the aim of our mindset (that of our spiritual organization, the OLF). This mindset, the OLF, has got only one kaayyoo of bilisummaa with the three interpretations regarding walabummaa, but it also does pursue the following three karaa’s (strategies) with their respective rhetoric:
- OLF mindset in the rebel organizations like the ULFO has got an explicit rhetoric of self-determination, i.e. in a form of a national independence, be it within or without a union, and it fights for this kaayyoo by all means,
- OLF mindset in the opposition organizations like OFC has got the rhetoric of struggling for liberation in only the Ethiopian context, but it covertly struggles for the same kaayyoo of self-determination,
- OLF mindset in the ruling organization, the OPDO, has got the rhetoric, which says: “we have already achieved the liberation,” but yet it also covertly pushes for the same and similar kaayyoo.
So, our fellow Oromo nationals, let’s allow this mindset move to the kaayyoo of bilisummaa in all the three karaa’s, despite the rhetoric of some Oromo nationalists in the opposition and in the ruling Oromo organizations. Let our foes know exactly that, despite the different rhetoric, the Oromo liberation movement can never be stopped till it achieves the kaayyoo of bilisummaa Oromo, and walabummaa Oromia of any type. We only need to motivate ourselves just to make our respective rhetoric and to do our practice in the liberation movement on the karaa each of us chooses in order to come to the only one kaayyoo of self-determination. We have to forget the rhetoric of Oromo politicians in the ruling party and in the opposition parties, who are doing their talks under the gunpoint of Woyane (they are just denying the right of Oromo people to self-determination at gunpoint), and let’s strive to achieve our kaayyoo, which is already determined by our mindset, the OLF.
I am personally against any sort of dictatorial unity, and I am a supporter of a possible union of independent nations in the empire/region based on the free will of the respective peoples. Any unity without Oromo’s public verdict will fail, take it only 1 year, about 10 years or as long as 100 years. That is why I do advocate for a lasting solution based on the free will of all the stakeholders, instead of the temporary hoyaa-hoyee of unity as a wishy-washy solution. Some organizations seem to have chosen unconditional Ethiopian unity as a precondition for the alliance against Woyane, but the unity they do strive for will surely never last long, because it is not based on accepting the self-determination of peoples, but based on a predetermination of the future fate of peoples by only few elites. The future possible alliance against the Woyane, which may be forged by the OLF et al. must be based on a solid ground by taking the self-determination of nations, rather than the unconditional unity of the region/empire, as the precondition for an alliance.
This way or that way, our foes need to know that, they can only manipulate and delay the realization of Oromo’s right to self-determination, but they can never hinder it. Oromo’s mindset is leading us to our only one kaayyoo, i.e. to the self-determination of the Oromo people, however long it may take. Our enemies like it or not, in reality almost all Oromo nationalists are led in our liberation struggle by this mindset. That is why the International Crisis Group (ICG) wrote: “despite its organizational flaws and divisions, many ordinary Oromos retain an almost messianic belief in the OLF as the major nationalist organization.” So, I would like to say: long live the OLF as both a fighter jet and a trinity (the OLF with only one kaayyoo of self-determination, but with the three possible types of sovereignty to be achieved through the three karaa’s accompanied by the three rhetoric).
Just regarding some politically vigilant Oromo nationalists, I personally can understand when they do refuse accepting the name Ethiopia as belonging to the Oromo people, but we need to dig deep to come to the facts that the name Ethiopia is not far from the history of the Oromo people in particular, and from that of the Cush in general. To illustrate this fact with a concrete example, who was the warrior named Abraham Ashine (ashine means in Afaan Oromo: ‘we have begotten a child’), the man who bravely conquered and ruled certain parts of Arabia as the ancient Cushitic Ethiopia used to include, not only the areas in the north eastern Africa, but also some regions in Arabia? The issue of this hero, Abraham Ashine, must be researched and the role of the Oromo in ruling even this part of Arabia, including Yemen, must be rightly interpreted. Fact on the ground seems to show that the Yemenites and some other Asians themselves were/are Cushites and their tricolors, similar to that of Abbaa-Gadaa’s faajjii, show it all. Simply put, the Oromo people can win only when we do understand our lost and real history. The Oromo people now fighting against our own history of the Cushites (Ethiopiawinet in its true sense) is not as such constructive. The Agew dynasty of Elalibela and even the Aksum history is not that of the “Semitic” as usually told, but part and parcel of the Cushitic kingdoms. Can we really find ancient history that the Tigrayans did build in Aksum, which is not part of the Cushitic civilization? Let alone Abyssinian history, we can further say that parts of the Arabian history are based mainly on the Oromo’s (Cushitic) culture, because of the fact that Abraham Ashine, the king who conquered and ruled Arabia seems to be an Oromo in particular, and a Cushite in general. Interestingly, even the name of the continent Asia is said to be derived from this Oromo name Ashine, according to some recorded histories, legends or stories.
The more we dig deep, the better we know our real history and the best we can be in a position to charter our future beneficial destiny. So let’s, Oromo nationalists, be sure that we are on the right line of understanding and interpreting our history and let’s look at the fact that, not only an independent Oromia of the Ruski-style, but also an integrative Oromia in a form of either the Hindi-style or the English-style can be the right kaayyoo, for which we, the Oromo nationalists, can fight. In summary, we can be like a fighter jet shooting from its three parts to attack our main enemy, the oppressive Abyssinianist elites’ system of domination, which still acts against our Oromummaa by targeting specially Aadaa-, Afaan-, Biyya-, Alaabaa-, and Amanti-Oromo (Waaqeffanna). Now, the very conscious harmonization of the three parts of our fighter jet in targeting our enemy in unison is the alpha-and-omega of the Oromo liberation movement in order to be successful in our struggle. As an effective and efficient symbol of this action in unity towards the common purpose of bilisummaa Oromoo in a form of self-determination, the Alaabaa of TQO (Tokkummaa Qabsaa’ota Oromoo), which I already proposed in my last two articles, is the neutral banner, behind which we all can rally. May Rabbi/Waaqa help us, all the Oromo nationalists, to cooperate with each other, to coordinate our efforts and to move in unison towards our kaayyoo of bilisummaa Oromoo and walabummaa Oromia. May HE bless Oromia and the Oromo people!
Galatooma!

Thank you so much for the detailed analysis and encouraging article. Let our OLF consolidate the struggle of the Oromo struggle and make it achived THROUGH Self-determination.
I am pleased that you indicated that even OPDO is some how part of the contibution to Oromia self determination. I say this because, we could use OPDO as an entry point to dismantle Wayane than the struggle in diaspora which is a reomte conmtrol kind of struggle.
Thanks and keep posted.

The political struggle in the Ethiopian empire now is simply a struggle between the Abyssianist forces with their system of domination (e.g. Woyane) and the Oromianist forces of self-determination (e.g. OLF). In the Oromianist forces of self-determination, we do find both the pro-independence forces fighting to realize an independent Oromia (e.g. ULFO) and the pro-integration forces struggling to materalize an integrative Oromia (e.g. MEDREK). We can even find sub-groups in these both camps of the Oromo liberation movement for self-determination. The pro-independence camp can be further divided into those who want an independent Oromia without a union of free nations in the region (e.g OLF-QC) and those who want an independent Oromia within such a union (e.g OLF-KY). The pro-integration camp can be subdivided into those who want to forge an integrative Oromia with a necessary national autonomy for each national groups (e.g. OFC) and those who want an integrative Oromia without such autonomy (e.g. UDJ). Now, disregarding the division into the two camps of the opposition against Woyane and even ignoring their sub-groupings, let’s concentrate on the struggle between the currently ruling forces with system of domination (Woyane) and the opposition forces of self-determination. The forces of self-determination can foster a tactical alliance even with the anti-Woyane forces of unity, who do oppose the right of nations to self-determination such as the AEUP, EPPF and EPRP. That means in short, the struggle now is ALL against an EVIL (Woyane)!

Dear Fayyis,
I really enjoyed reading your timely and far-sighted essay. Thanks indeed. It is what most of Oromo nationalists/at least the educated/ has in their mind. You presented it in a very scientific and hence convincing way. The way you tried to back your idea/I can say Ideology for that matter!?/ with stron evidence is quite odd- Gurrachi gara garbaa, rooban gara taliila sammuuke nuuf haqaru! One thing I would like to tell you my doubt about you – you could be a systematic persuer. Bluntly, you could be the one seeking unity in your deep heart!!! How could I trust you? History continuously tells me Oromos have been systematically exploited by Habeshas. Oromo heroes/don’t want to mention name/ have been used by Habesha brutals for more than a century. Personally I believe in Oromo people themselves determine their destiny rather than the ‘trinty’ OLF. So I/we only want OLF to be united and leave the big decision to the people.
This days, I’m warrying becouse of the Habesha elites active movement. They managed to convince international community that TPLF is not the right rulling party for ethiopia. In fact they are using the convincing word-Unity, which the west favours. Don’t you think we need to be wise. They also started saysing OLF ideology/and OLF/ is only face crises infront of Ethiopians. Actually, you can raise many questions here. And we should not spend time on what Habesha give us as an assignmnet-rather we should focus on what we should do!
On your idea about Ethiopia-coutry name!, I entirly agree with you. The name Ethiopia has got nothing to do with Habeshas!!! Habeshas have a good truck record of making good things their own-you can mention many if you like. A good thing is not to tigh up owrselves with their assignment. Believe me, when Oromo nationals dig into the true history they would claim back Ethiopia is for Cush!!!
WANTED! WANTED! WANTED! is UNITY of what you called ‘TRINTY’
Please, write me on this email-give you gunuin

I think its better if you guys change to question to liberate Wolega. Roorroof Jenne and others,
galatooma for the feed back. Roorroof, you asked: how could I trust you?. My short answer is: just try to evaluate my message, you don’t know me as a messanger. The only way you can evaluate me and other commentators here in the cyber world is by analysing our messages. To simplify it, any idea and opinion which promotes Oromo unity and our cause is on your side. Those ideas and opinions, which divide and polarize the Oromo liberation camp are either from our foes or from our naives. As you already put it, our experience showed us that Abyssinianists always try to use us for their own advantage, but it is up to us to break this evil intention and try to promote our purpose. Regadring the trinity Vs. unity of the OLF, I did try more than enough to persuade all the factions to come back together and unite. Now, we need to help them harmonize their efforts till they can form such structural unity. It is also true that Habeshas try their best to hinder Oromo from taking over any influence or power in Finfinne. It is up to us to bring all our talents, energy and time to neutralize their effort and achieve our bilisummaa and walabumma. Let’s all do our best to be successful! Thanks again.

Hi brother !
Sorry for your narrow outlook! You are thinking that Oromo people are oppressed by northerners and you want to give them freedom. While doing so you kid man forged and even neglected the rest of Ethiopian nationals ( Non-Oromo, Non-Amhara and Non-Tigray).As you hate Amharic to be national language, whom do you think accept Oromigna to be our future language? If you are liberal, at least you should give a choice for selection. I know Oromia is a big land, so why not you make three more countries like Bale Oromo, Showa Oromo and Wolega Oromo. I think you better finish your homework and select one out of three and tell us your final stand. History never tell us that it is possible to gamble with three cards. Impossible!! We backward uncivilized people are fighting for bare land of useless resources and the world is moving at speed of light!. Shame for us who don’t have good vision. Our mind is dark as our face. We never think good things even to our brother, let alone ———-Sorry brother I am so scared by your little —–

The most dangerous and unrealistic ideology which undermines the freedom or Oromos and continue to subjugate them to supression is takling about the Independent Oromis. Let me tell you the truth as an Oromos-You will never achieve this rather you are giving more time for the oromos to fully fall under the current salvery system called “globalisation”.
I alwasy defend this byb asking those : thinkers of Independent Oromia”.
1) DO you have clear and practical boundary with Amhara? Tigria, Afar? Ogaden, South? I must say the answer is no… So, what doe this imply? It implies blood shed for centuries.
Question 2) There is very clear difference in this ideologies among us the Oromos which is irreconcilable.
to site some.— By undermining and exposing the oromos as being colonised by Amhara or Tigres- you are belittling the hero and peaceful and wise Oromos. Please this ideology is leaving a black spot in many oOromo young generation- You let them feel inferior- WHich is really the most damaging. But I know many of us never accept this. 3rd- Oromis is nearly above 50& is a muslim nation- So, Religion war is inevitable given the current scenarios…. 4) Ormos live intermarried- in many cases with all groups of people and in Particular-with Amharas…..
Please dear friend- never thing unimaginable- We are free when we free all the nations and empower the majority to rule. In this case the most likely winners are the oromos. THis must be our target. Never think of Independent oromia-THis is not worakble. Bring peace and reconcilation to the whole impoverished and lvoely people of Ethiopia… Oromos parents are wiser adn have inherent knowledge to bring reconcilation and peace to live together with people. So, I wonder, Where do those nationalists bring this hatred? racisim?

Gelebo and the other criticizers of the author,
why don’t you come up with reasonable arguements to refute the asssertions of Fayyis Oromia? Your attempt to curse, insult and defame him shows that you are already conquered and lost in the “debate”! Particularly it is interesting to read from people like Gelebo who are scared, when they imagine Afaan Oromo being the working language of the fedration, but such cowards are happy under the present context of having ONLY Amharinya as a national language. The author of the article just nocked such hypocrites in the head. If they want to “SAVE” the empire, then not with Amharainya (the language of the minority) as a national language, but with Afaan Oromo (the language of the majority) as a working language of the possible future federation! Swallow it or kill yourselves!!

Dear Obbo Fayyis,
Grazie, per tuo buon senso di commentario di realita’/thanks for your good sense of commenting on reality/ yes, we are bombarding in every direction to liberate our territory either as OLA OR Oromo Civic Organizations including Qeerroo which makes nervous not only the TPLF, but also the chauvinists as de facto for the no sign in the future that the outsiders can land a foot on Oromia makes every body crazy. Take as an example GELEBO’s comments who desperately frustrated for being loosing the ahmara hemogeny over empire for ever and became one of the oppressed nations who makes only noise for its own existence . The so-called Ginbot 7 -the former of EPRP who has the history of bloodshed during the terror atrocity of 1970th is the fresh memory for every one which based on revolutionary idology of the eastern bolck will not bring any political change except crying for the ahmara supermacy over others which seems they already lost the battle field.
In a precautionary of sense, I was monitoring the Ginbot 7 movement when there was a declaration on Unity of puropse as a force of an alliance : OLF, ONLF and Ginbot 7 against the TPLF regime for the common interst of all nations and nationalities of thje empire, but soon one can easily understand the move of the Ginbot 7: See ESAT interview part two on which Ato Andargachew Tsige declared there will never ever will take place a referendum of popular vote in any form on the soil of the empire. Yes, at least he was a honest in speaking the trueth of their cultural value.Hence, Wew never join such pyyschopathic society for nething as never will come out any fruit except the misery of the past 100years. For such response, the TPLF did their revenge against the arrogance of the past and today every Tigreans says they will never ever ruled by ahmaras any more, this is also should be true for Oromos, Somalians, Sidamas , Afars, Gambellas and Southerners too. Hi Fayyis,
very good that you showed us the three types of sovereignity. But you like it or not, till now we, the Oromo people, are the political minority struggling against not only the Abyssinians, but also against their masters (the 300,000,000 Americans, 200,000,000 Europeans, 1,2 billion Chinese, 1,0 billion Indeans, 200,000,000 Russians, etc). That is why I would like to stick to an Independent Oromia (the Ruski-style) as our primary Kaayyoo, then the English-style and the Hindi-style you mentioned are the secondary and tertiary alternatives. Anyways, thank you!!

Do the Oromos should abondon and surrender to absiniyas scaring that they will fight us after independent? Also you are comparing “bed room ” with national poltics. insignifcant number of marriage dies not have any impact on Oromos right. Did you married to Habashas? Heruumitee amhara ta`uu nodandeesa!

HI GELEBO,
In any forum for those having a minimum social education, there should be respect and tolerance towards opinions that differs from ones own. For such lack from you, I should not be surprise knowing your cultural value/as your motto always: after my death let the grass should not be grown again/ which infact for the last 120 years has destroyed the Horn and you will never ever come back to Oromia, Tigray, Ogadean, Afar, Sidama and others. Only you can make a noise of an insult such as” your little”.
Furthermore, you missed the central point of Oromo struggle as if Oromos are concerned for the democratization of the empire whereas our true unfolded national demand is A MUST Re-gaining our own Identity-Independent and Sovereignty of Oromia where millions of Oromo daughters and sons are ready for such project. We never complain we were oppressed by the Northerners, what is our true complain is our own national Oromos who helped the empire’s brutal regime against the Oromo nation. But, that mentality has already changed for ever and today every Oromo is an OLF. As our opinionst Fayyis put it correctly, every Oromo is bambarding in every direction for the cause of our national duty and any talented Oromos said to the empire addios and a time to march for their land.

For sure, Egypt is brainwashing our people Oromos to benefit from its Nile and Muslim Oromos. What will OLF get then in return endless war? It is very sad. Have you recently read FARC, Basque separatist group just denounced and united with their brothers and sisters and decided to struggle within for the rights and leadership of Basque. What a sad fact is Africa particularly Ethiopia is in? OLF, how is it going for you, the land you have been struggling is no longer exists, it is given by neocolonialist because you refused to fight with Ethiopian people in unity instead. As Egypt is brainwashing you, before your enemy was Amara, and you collaborated with tPLF against Ethiopia (Oromo) and therefore weakened Oromos and now when Tigray is oppressing you now decided your propoganda it is Abyssinia. The fluctuation of OLF indicates, it never has its facts and keeps complaining Amara, Abyssinia oppress them when they have the power to be parcel of Ethiopia as in FARC be part of leadership and bring equality to Oromos. No, they are teaching their children to hate which will not allow ORomos in peace for generations to come.

For you, saving the bututo Abyssinia and its empire in the south is much more important than freeing Oromiya. Like Fayyis, you are preaching democracy, but hell-bent to impose the bututo Abyssinia over Oromiya.
The Oromo people articulated their desire for an independent Oromiya in 1974 – eat your heart out, we will not live with bututo Abyssinian empire, period!

What is unity?
Unity by its very nature is a sign of strengh, not weakness, if it’s built on solid ground, free will, mutual trust and interest of indenpendent entities for peaceful coexistence. However, the state of affairs in Ethiopian is synonymous with a cycle of parasitic exploitation and domination by one ethnic group over others. Oromos don’t need 3 wings of leadership, nor books, philosophies, grand theories or texts to satisfy some historians, but 30 million different opinions merging into one grand aim, that is, see the bigger picture that their disunity is destroying the very existence of oromos as a nation and break this of barbaric cycle of crimes committed by minorities on oromo people on their own lands. Oromo leaders are participaing in this crime by failing to unite and thus extending the life of the regime. They should declare war on companies that are involved in land grabbing, destroy all buildings around Finifnne and elsewhere that have been erected by removing oromo families or expropriate these structures and give them back to the farmers, without any compensation. Illegal settlers on oromo farmers lands must be taught a lesson or two. Once a company is hit the rest will take note and think twice before grabbing farm and grass land and engaging in all other activities without consulting the local communities.

Fayyis, Is it human nature to appear re-conciliatory and wise, when the facts of the deeds of that person dictate otherwise? The Nation of Oromia is bombarded with numerous articles, and books purposely crafted by the Abyssinian dogmatism, and delivered to our children, including to the broad people of Oromia by you, the same individual. I wonder how long you will continue intending to camouflage the compatibility of your evil agendas with the true and genuine Orommumma?
It is evident at times, may appear bewildering watching you mixing and molding opposite forces (like the devil busy cooking completely unlatching ingredients claiming the nutritious values of such combinations), just to look like that you are advocating for the reconciliations of the different Oromoo forces. The fact is that even if the Nation of Oromia is eager to have a unity among the true Oromoos who have “in the best interest of Oromia” as priority in their lives, it will be a fatal mistake to the spirit of bilisummaa giving the same ground for the true unselfishly committed freedom fighters of Oromia with those who are sellouts and bent over to protect the unity of the Abyssinian Kingdom.
Maybe, just maybe, your strategy is to occupy the minds of Oromoos who are thirsty for genuine unity, with such hallucinatory and fake unity, rather than striving for the tangible everlasting unity of true freedom lovers of Oromia. There is no stone the Abyssinian and their agents may leave not-turned to see the Nation of Oromia remain under their colony for a longer time. I do not think the gallant Nation of Oromia will be convinced with such insincere and abortive agendas.
With or without the Abyssinian agents and sellout, Oromia shall be free.

——Here is The Way How Oromo Nationalists are Bombarding the Gezhii Gujile——
After many years of conflicts in the Oromo liberation camp, which were exploited and used by the enemy of the Oromo nation, now it seems that all Oromo nationals from the Oromo political spectrum, from the left wing to the right wing, are coopertaing with each other and coordinating our efforts in order to liberate the Oromo people from the current fascist and racist ruling regime. Specially, it is encouraging to observe the still strong Oromian Students’ Movement (OSM), including the Qeerroo movement for freedom and democracy being part and parcel of the ongoing Oromo liberation movement (part of our Fighter-Jet). I think we can present this Fighter-Jet as an airkraft with the differentiated three parts of its left-wing, with one part of its middle body and with differentiated three parts of its right-wing. The skilled pilot of the fighter-Jet is our famous mindset of bilisummaa/freedom, the OLF. I would like to personify the three parts of the aircraft with the following prominent Oromo nationalists.
1) The left wing (pro-’independent Oromia without Ethiopia’):
- Galaasa Dilbo, who strives to achieve an independent Oromia seemingly disregarding the possible regional union with the neighbouring nations, specially with the nations who are now living within Ethiopia. In case this position is not against such a union, then there is no clear difference with the position of Ob Leenco.
- Daud Ibsa, who is open for both Leenco’s and Galaasa’s position as long as the Oromo people will decide per referendum.
- Leenco Lata, who advocates a nationally independent Oromia within a regional union of free nations in the Horn of Africa (around Oromia).
2) The middle body (pro-’independent Oromia’ either within or without Ethiopia):
- Fayyis Oromia and his likes, who are open for all the positions of the left and the right, as far as the determiners in this choice are the Oromo public at large. This part of the fighter-jet believes that neither an ‘independent Core Oromia’ nor an ‘integrative Cush Oromia’ is disadvantageous as long as bilisummaa of the Oromo people will be realized and further respected.
3) The right wing (pro-’independent Oromia within Ethiopia’ = ‘integrative Oromia’):
- Bulcha Dammaqsa, who wants to have an integrative Oromia in a form of an autonomous Oromian state within Ethiopian federation.
- Marara Guddina, who once said “Oromian national autonomy within Ethiopian federation is not bad, but we don’t need to die for it”; he was considering that even Gondar and other northern parts of the empire are parts of Oromia; accordingly, he wants to realize either Nagaasso’s or Bulcha’s position per Oromo public verdict.
- Nagaaso Gidaada, who tries to achieve through his UDJ party an integrative Oromia = the whole Ethiopia, without necessarily having an autonomous Core Oromia within Ethiopia. All individuals and institutions with such goal can be classified here.
But, in order to accomodate the move of these different Oromo positions regarding our future type of sovereignty (walabummaa) of Oromia, Oromo nationalists have to be able to concentrate on the common denominator of all the positions, i.e on bilisummaa of the Oromo people. To comprehend what I do mean, we just need to compare the following interesting three concepts: secession, independence and sovereignty. Let me try to put the difference in short as follows:
- secession needs the precondition of being legally part of one sovereign nation and being a minority nation at the periphery. Oromia has never been legally part of Ethiopia and it is neither a minority nation nor at periphery unlike Tigrai. So Oromia’s question is not a question of secession in this sense. This is the point, which Ob. Amin Jundi recently tried to explain to the Habesha elites.
- independence is the liberation of a subjugated nation from the other oppressive one, as the case we do see in the attempt of some Oromo nationals like Ob Galaasaa trying to emancipate the occupied Oromia from the oppressive Abyssinia.
- sovereignity is the right of the liberated and free nation to decide on the type of arrangement it wants, like the sovereignty of the Oromo nation to decide on its future, be it in a form of an independence within or without Ethiopia; this seems to be what Oromo nationalists like Ob. Daud try to achieve.
According to the right of the Oromo nation to its own bilisummaa and walabummaa, it is not wrong if Ob. Amin or Gen. Kamal strives for the right of Oromo and Oromia within Ethiopia, as long as the determining factor is the result of the referendum. Thus, it is nice to see that our nationalists are bombarding tyranic Abyssinists from the three parts of our Fighter-Jet:- Gen. Kamal, Ob. Daud and Ob Galaasaa from the left wing; Ob Fayyis Oromia and co from the middle body; as well as Dr. Nagaaso, Dr. Marara and Ob Bulcha from the right wing.
This is really very scary for the enemy of the Oromo nation. Important is that all the three parts do fight the enemy, but do not attack each other. In the currently ongoing rhetoric, I didn’t hear Ob Amin attacking the other factions of the OLF. But, it is clear that we do read nowadays a lot of Woyane criminal cadres camouflaging as Oromo in order to sow a discord among Oromo nationals by trying to support one faction of the OLF and attack the others, as well an attempt of a vice versa!

We can also present our Fighter-Jet simply as the one with left wing (those who want to have ‘Oromia in Ethiopia’ like Ob bulcha does), middle body (those who strive for ‘Oromia near Ethiopia’ as Ob Galaasa is doing) and right wing (those who try to realize ‘Oromia is Ethiopia’ as Dr Nagaaso wants.

———-The Victorious Culture and Nature of The Oromo Liberation Movement!———-
The political enemies of the Oromo nation, specially the currently ruling gezhi gujile from Tegaruland, tried to give the Oromo liberation movement in genreal and the OLF in particular a fake and false picture. They tried to present it as a secessionist or separatist movement just trying to discredit the legitimate struggle of the Oromo people for bilisummaa/freedom in front of the international community. They also tried to exploit and use certain areas of conflict in the Oromo liberation camp to hinder the forward march of the Oromo people to bilisummaa.
Fortunately, after many years of conflicts in the Oromo liberation camp, now it seems that all Oromo nationals from the Oromo political spectrum, extending from the left wing to the right wing, are coopertaing with each other and coordinating our efforts in order to liberate the Oromo people from the currently ruling fascist and racist regime.

I think we can present this Fighter-Jet as an airkraft with the following left wing, middle body and right wing. The skilled pilot of the Fighter-Jet is, of course, our famous mindset of bilisummaa, the OLF.
1) The left wing, who talks about the possibility of forging ‘Oromia in Ethiopia’. This wing includes those Oromo nationalists, who do want to have an integrative Oromia in a form of an autonomous Oromian state within Ethiopian federation, for they think that even the large part of the so called Abyssinia in the current geography of Ethiopia belongs to Oromia.
2) The middle body, who tries to realize ‘Oromia vs Ethiopia’ as the two separated neighbouring nations, the same as the two sate solution of the Israel-Palestinian conflict; this group considers Ethiopia as being the same to the colonizer Abyssinia.
3) The right wing, who strives to foster the notion of an integrative Oromia in a form of ‘Oromia is Ethiopia’, claiming that even the whole Ethiopia was once Oromia and can again be transformed into Oromia,
This Fighter-Jet is actually a well developed Oromo liberation movement like a well grown butterfly, which had firstly got its caterpillar and then developed its two wings. The middle body (the catterpillar) of the Oromo liberation movement is the one which started to grow in 1969 with the kaayyoo/goal of realizing an independent Oromia to be liberated from the colonizer neighbouring Abyssinia. The left wing grew in 1991 as the Oromo liberation movement could get rid of the fascist Derg trying to forge free ‘Oromia in Ethiopia’. Now the right wing is developing in order to get rid of the currently ruling fascist and racist Gujile and then foster a liberated country in a form of ‘Oromia is Ethiopia’.
Interestingly this currently ongoing pan-OLF movement tries to take into consideration the beneficial move of the above three factions of the Oromo liberation movement and tries to harmonize these three types of moves towards bilisummaa. But, in order to accomodate these different Oromo positions regarding our future type of sovereignty (walabummaa) of Oromia, all Oromo nationalists have to be able to concentrate on the common denominator of all the positions, i.e on bilisummaa of the Oromo people. ———-Oromo Nationalists are Arrab-tokkee Referring to Bilisummaa, but Arrab-torbee Regarding Walabummaa———-
I would like to clarify here that the genuine Oromo nationalists do have no conflict when it comes to bilisummaa/freedom of the Oromo people from the currently ruling fascist and racist Gujile. The only conflict area, which is actually reconcilable, is the one based on their view regarding the type of walabummaa/sovereignity of future Oromia they want to realize. In this respect there are the following seven positions entertained in the Oromo community at large:
Position 1: that of the nationalists, who strive to achieve an independent republic of Oromia seemingly disregarding the possible regional union with the neighbouring nations, specially with the nations, who are now living in Ethiopia.
Position 2: who advocate a nationally independent Oromia within a regional union of free nations in the Horn of Africa (union with nations living around Oromia) in a form of a ‘union of independent nations’, something like confederation.
Position 3: who are open for both the positions 1 and 2 as long as the Oromo people will decide per referendum.
Position 4: who want to have an integrative Oromia in a form of an autonomous Oromian state within Ethiopian federation; i.e the ‘union of autonomous nations’.
Position 5: who try to achieve an integrative Cush Oromia being the same to the whole Ethiopia, without necessarily having an autonomous Core Oromia within Ethiopia; simply it is an integrative republic of Oromia, which is geographically greater.
Position 6: who do say “Oromian national autonomy within Ethiopian federation is not bad, but we don’t need to die for it”; they are considering that even Gondar and other northern parts of the empire are parts of Oromia; accordingly, they want to realize either position 4 or 5 per Oromo public verdict.
Position 7: who are open for the above varities (positions 1, 2, 4 and 5), as far as the determiners in this choice are the Oromo public. They believe that neither the samaller ‘independent Core Oromia’ nor the greater ‘integrative Cush Oromia’ is disadvantageous as long as bilisummaa of the Oromo people will be realized and further respected.
Despite these different positions, which do characterize the arrab-torbee (seven tounged) nature of the Oromo nationalists regarding walabummaa Oromia, in comparison to their arrab-tokkee (one tounged) position referring to bilisummaa Oromo, the political enemies of the Oromo nation, specially the currently ruling Gujile from the Tegaruland, attempt to give the Oromo liberation movement in genreal and the OLF in particular a fake and false picture. They try to present it as a secessionist or separatist movement just wanting to discredit the legitimate struggle of the Oromo people for bilisummaa and walabumaa in the eyes of the international community.
They also do exploit and use the above mentioned area of conflict in the Oromo liberation camp to hinder the forward march of the Oromo people to bilisummaa. Even some politically concsious Oromo nationalists fell in their trap and described the other genuine Oromo nationalists with different position on walabummaa as Quislings in the Oromo liberation movement. But, actually, the only true Quesilings are those Oromo nationals, who are against bilisummaa Oromo, not those genuine pro-bilisummaa nationalists with their own different position regarding walabummaa.
Specially, it is encouraging to observe the still strong Oromian Students’ Movement (OSM), including the Qeerroo movement for freedom and democracy, being part and parcel of the ongoing Oromo liberation movement (part of our Fighter-Jet). I think we can present this Fighter-Jet by summarizing the above seven positions in to three parts, as an airkraft with the following left wing, middle body and right wing.
2) The middle body, who strives to realize ‘Oromia vs Ethiopia’ as the two separated neighbouring nations, the same as the two-states-solution of the Israel-Palestinian conflict; this group considers Ethiopia as being the same to the colonizer Abyssinia.
3) The right wing, who tries to foster the notion of an integrative Oromia in a form of ‘Oromia is Ethiopia’, claiming that even the whole Ethiopia was once Oromia and can again be transformed into Oromia,
This Fighter-Jet is actually a well developed Oromo liberation movement like a well grown butterfly, which had firstly got its caterpillar and then developed its two wings. The middle body (the caterpillar) of the Oromo liberation movement is the one which started in 1969 with the kaayyoo/goal of realizing an independent Oromia to be liberated from the colonizer neighbouring Abyssinia.
When we look at the current OLF activists, we do detect that there are some 1st-generation OLFites, who do consider themselves as part of only the caterpillar, but deny the importance of the development of the two wings; many 2nd-generation OLFites, who do see the political significance of the left wing, but failed to accept the necessitiy of the right wing; and there are few 3rd-generation OLFites, who started to recognize the very imperative and important development of the butterfly/figther-get with its middle body having the Core Kaayyoo of independence and using tactically both the left wing and the right wing to come to the planned goal of the Oromo liberation movement.
That is why, interestingly, the currently ongoing pan-OLF movement tries to take into consideration the beneficial move of the above three factions of the Oromo liberation movement and tries to harmonize these three types of moves towards bilisummaa. But, in order to accomodate these different Oromo positions regarding our future type of Oromian sovereignty, all Oromo nationalists have to be able to concentrate on the common denominator of all the positions, i.e on bilisummaa of the Oromo people.
- independence is the liberation of a subjugated nation from the other oppressive one, as the case we do see in the attempt of some Oromo nationals trying to emancipate the occupied Oromia from the oppressive Abyssinia.
- sovereignity is the right of the liberated and free nation to decide on the type of arrangement it wants, like the sovereignty of the Oromo nation to decide on its future in a form of an independence, be it within or without Ethiopia.
Thus, according to the right of the Oromo nation to its own bilisummaa and walabummaa, it is not wrong if some Oromo nationals do strive for the right of Oromo and Oromia within Ethiopia, as long as the determining factor is the result of the referendum. That is why it is so nice to see that our nationalists are bombarding tyranic Abyssinists from the three parts of our Fighter-Jet.
This is really very scary for the enemy of the Oromo nation. Important is that all the three parts do fight the enemy, but do not attack each other. In the currently ongoing rhetorics, it is good that the OLF factions are refrainig from attacking each other. Of course, it is clear that we do read nowadays a lot of the criminal cadres of the Gujile camouflaging as Oromo nationals in order to sow a discord in the Oromo liberation camp by trying to support one faction of the OLF and attack the others!

———-Odaa is The Symbol of Bilisummaa Oromo and Walabummaa Oromia———-
It was/is really good to look at the Oromo liberation movement from different perspectives using metaphors and symbols. Here, I want to use Odaa as an additional symbol for bilisummaa and walabummaa, so that we can comprehend more about our common ground (bilissummaa) and about the issues, on which we do differ and have reconcilable conflict (types of walabummaa). The hitherto used metaphors are:
1) Train journey from Djibouti (garbummaa) to Finfinne (bilisummaa) as described in http://gadaa.com/oduu/688/2009/06/24/opinion-let-us-foster-tokummaa-for-bilisummaa/ .
2) Graphic presentation of the political spectrum in the empire as shown in http://gadaa.com/oduu/2420/2010/02/16/ethiopia-ignore-unitarists-fight-hegemonists-but-elect-unionists-opinion/ .
3) Electric circuits as a way of looking at the Kaayyoo Oromo and the sub-kayyoo’s as depicted in http://gadaa.com/oduu/2523/2010/02/23/oromo-to-unlock-the-gridlock-take-independence-as-the-core-kaayyoo-analysis/ .
4) A generation of the liberation movement being in political evolution http://gadaa.com/oduu/10538/2011/08/13/the-third-generation-olf-pragmatic-inclusive-and-smart-2/ .
5) A fighter-Jet and a well developed Butterfly as shown in http://gadaa.com/oduu/11583/2011/11/12/oromia-ethiopia-the-oromo-liberation-movement-is-like-a-fighter-jet-shooting-from-its-three-parts/ .
Now let me use Odaa as a metaphor to make the relationship between bilisummaa Oromo and walabummaa Oromia clear! Odaa is really a very good symbol for bilisummaa Oromo and walabummaa Oromia. The stem of Odaa is the representation for bilisummaa and the seven main branches of it are the representation for the seven positions, which are now entertained in Oromo community regarding walabummaa:
- at the left end of Odaa is the branch representing the position of the nationalists, who strive to achieve an independent republic of Oromia seemingly disregarding the possible regional union with the neighbouring nations, specially with the nations, who are now living in Ethiopia.
- next to this left end is the position of those who are open for both the above mentioned position and the following middle left position, as long as the Oromo people will decide per referendum.
- the middle left position belongs to those who advocate a nationally independent Oromia within a regional union of free nations in the Horn of Africa (union with nations living around Oromia) in a form of a ‘union of independent nations’, something like confederation.
- on the top of Odaa at the center is the position of those who are open for all the varities in the left and right, as far as the determiners in this choice are the Oromo public. These nationalists believe that neither the smaller ‘independent Core Oromia’ nor the greater ‘integrative Cush Oromia’ is disadvantageous as long as bilisummaa of the Oromo people will be realized and further respected.
- the middle right position is that of those who want to have an integrative Oromia in a form of an autonomous Oromian state within Ethiopian federation; i.e the ‘union of autonomous nations’.
- near the right end is the position of those who do say “Oromian national autonomy within Ethiopian federation is not bad, but we don’t need to die for it”; these nationals are considering that even Gondar and other northern parts of the empire are parts of Oromia; accordingly, they want to realize either the above mentioned middle right position or the following right end position.
- at the right end of Odaa is the position of those who try to achieve an integrative Cush Oromia being the same to the whole Ethiopia, without necessarily having an autonomous Core Oromia within Ethiopia; simply put this goal is an integrative republic of Oromia, which is geographically greater.
As described here, the stem of Odaa (bilisummaa) is the common line of life for all the seven branches (types of walabummaa); it is the common ground for all Oromo antionalists. Such clarification of the Oromo liberation movement with different metaphors and symbols helps our confused friends and our confusing foes to make up their mind and it help them to let us fight in unison against the currently tormenting fascist and racist Gujile in Finfinne palace!

Be it an independent republic or a union in a form of confederation/federation or an integrated republic, any sort of walabummaa Oromia devoid of bilisummaa Oromo is not as such beneficial! That is why our common and main struggle should concentrate on our common kaayyoo, i.e on bilisummaa, not necessatrily on the conflicting type of walabummaa we want to realize. We know that Oromo politics is characterized by our common position regarding bilisummaa and our conflicting positions relating to walabummaa as depicted below.
The three types of walabummaa/sovereignty usually envisioned by the Oromo nationalists can better be named as the UK-type (United Kingdom type) on the left side of the Oromo political spectrum, the RF-type (Russian Federation type) in the middle and the US-type (United States type) on the right side. The Oromo national liberation movement having one common cause of bilisummaa, can also persue these three different types of walabummaa, the different visions, which are the sourses of the still existing pseudo-conflict between the Oromo nationalists.
Actually all of the Oromo freedom fighters can struggle by cooperating and coordinating our resources for our common agenda, i.e for bilisummaa and then allow the Oromo public to decide on the type of walabummaa we want to have (the UK-type ‘Union of Independent Nations’ with Afaan Oromo as the working language (mediating language) of the union or the RF-type ‘Independent Republic of Oromia’ in a form of Oromian federation or the US-type ‘Union of Integrated Nations’ with Afaan Oromo as the working language (melting language) of the union.
Be it this way or that way, fact on the ground is that neither of the three options of Oromian sovereignty is disadvantegeous for the Oromo people, as long as the three improtant factors (freedom, Oromiffaa as a federal language and democracy) are well accepted and respected. The problem arises only when the believers of one type of wlabummaa become fandamentalists (dominant, exclusive and rigid) and consider the other Oromo nationalists with different form of walabummaa in mind as foe, inferior and wrong.

Forget about the Arrab-torbee, but we surely will have the five Gadaa-parties, who will have the respective five types of walabummaa described below as their vision and to realize their choice after getting our bilisummaa. For instance, the Gadaa practiced in the Borana community uses the following different sets of names for the five Gadaa-parties. (Could be likened to five parties who take power in turns): 1. Birmajii 2. Melba 3. Muudana 4. Roobale 5. Duuloo!
Similarly, we do now need ONLY one liberation front, of course the OLF, in order to compell our enemy and to come to bilisummaa. After achieving our bilisummaa, the five Gadaa-parties can compete for power and for the implementation of their preferred types of walabummaa. For instance:
- Birmajii can choose ‘Oromian Confederation’, i.e the confederation of free nations in the region being in union with Oromia as its preferred type of walabummaa.
- Duuloo can have ‘Oromian Killil Federation’, the federation of autonomous nations in the region being united with free Oromia.
- Melba preferring an ‘Oromian Independence’ disregarding any sort of union with the other nations in the region.
- Muudana can persue the goal of ‘Oromian Gosaa Federation’ preferring the historical Odaa’s (Bisil, Bulluqi, Bultum, Gaarres, Makkodi, Nabe and Rooba) as the elements of the federation, replaceing the whole Oromia which is an entity in Killil Federation.
- Roobale can opt for an ‘Oromian Centeralism’, i.e transforming the whole region in to an Oromonized centeral government, in which Afaan Oromo will be the melting-language, replaceing Amharinya.
In general, now it is the time for us to fight together in unison for bilisummaa, being organized under one strong liberation front, the OLF; the time after this phase of bilisummaa will be the time, when we will compete for the type of walabummaa, which we want to realize. This difference on our preference of walabummaa should not hinder us now from working together and from compelling our oppressors to leave Finfinnee palace. May Rabbi/Waaqa help us!

——Qeerroo Movement is the Fighter-Jet, the Butterfly and the Third-Generation-OLF——–
The Fighter-Jet you people are talking about is the modern way of struggle for bilisummaa Oromo, which is recently waged by the Qeerroo Oromia movement, which can also be considered as the well developed Butterfly and as the pragmatic, inclusive and smart Third-Generation-OLF.
- as a Fighter-Jet, it is shooting from the left wing (the pro-Killil-Federation part), from the middle body (the CORE and the pro-independence part) as well as from the right wing (the pro-Gosa-Federation part)!
- as a well developed Butterfly, it has got the left wing, the middle body (the CORE caterpillar) and the right wing, having the same and similar parts to the Fighter-Jet!
- as a Third-Generation-OLF, the Qeerroo movement has learned and it is practicing the liberation struggle from ALL the three positions (from the three parts of the fighter-jet or that of the butterfly), instead of limiting itself to only the middle body (as the First-Generation-OLF did till 1991) or to both the middle body and the left wing (as the Second-Generation-OLF is doing till now).
Being the Fighter-Jet, the Butterfly and the Third-Generation-OLF, the modern and the smart Qeerroo Oromia will lead us to bilisummaa Oromo and then allow the Oromo public to choose the type of walabummaa Oromia we want to have in the future. Thus, let’s all Oromo nationalists say together: VIVA Qeerroo Oromia and let’s stand with the movement against the currently tormenting fascist and racist Gujile in Finfinne palace!!

———-Oromo: Only One Liberation Front For Bilisummaa Now, But Five Political Parties For Walabummaa Later!———-
I think OLF is beyond any group or faction; no one can exclusively claim the name; it is simply the symbol of the Oromo national liberation struggle. Let alone the factions which did separate from the “main OLF group”, even the non-organized Oromo individual nationalists feel to be part of the OLF in a struggle against the enemy of the Oromo nation. We like it or not, we do have only ONE liberation front, the OLF, to which we all the genuine Oromo freedom fighters feel to belong and we all can of course claim the name.
We better forget about our arrab-torbee regarding walabummaa Oromia, but we surely will have in the future the five Gadaa-parties (we can call them ‘noble SHANEE’), who can have the respective five types of walabummaa described below as their respective vision in order to realize their choices after getting our bilisummaa. - Duuloo can have ‘Oromian Nation-based Federation’, the federation of autonomous nations in the region being united with free Oromia.
- Melba prefering an ‘Oromian Independence’ disregarding any sort of union with the other nations in the region.
- Muudana can persue the goal of ‘Oromian Region-based Federation’ prefering the historical Odaa’s of the Oromo (Odaa-Bisil, Bulluqi, Bultum, Gaarres, Makkodi, Nabe and Rooba) as the elements of the federation, replacing Oromia which is an entity in Killil Federation.
- Roobale can opt for an ‘Oromian Centeralism’, i.e transforming the whole region in to an Oromonized centeral government, in which Afaan Oromo will be the melting-language (working language), beside or replacing Amharinya.
In general, now it is the time for us to fight together in unison for bilisummaa, being organized under one strong liberation front, the OLF; after this phase of bilisummaa, there will be the time, when we will compete for the type of walabummaa, which we want to realize. This difference based on our preference of walabummaa should not hinder us now from working together and from compelling our oppressors to leave Finfinnee palace. As we do observe, Qeerroo Movement is the Fighter-Jet, the Butterfly and the Third-Generation-OLF we used to talk about; it is simply the modern way of struggle for bilisummaa Oromo, which can be considered as the following three metaphors and symbols:
- as a Fighter-Jet, it is shooting from the left wing (from the pro-Nation-based-Federation part), from the middle body (the CORE and the pro-independence part) as well as from the right wing (the pro-Region-based-Federation part)!
- as a well developed Butterfly, it has got the left wing, the middle body (the CORE caterpillar) and the right wing, having the same functions like the parts of the Fighter-Jet!

Thus, let’s all Oromo nationalists say together: VIVA Qeerroo Oromia and let’s stand with the movement against the currently tormenting fascist and racist Gujile in Finfinne palace. Last, but not least, we yet need to learn not to fight each other on minor issues at this time, when the Oromo people are suffering under the oppression of the Gujile! May Rabbi/Waaqa help us!

The pragmatic, inclusive and smart OLF must be able to accomodate all the five visions of the future five Gadaa political parties regarding the types of walabummaa Oromia. Actually, the five Gadaa parties can have not only the above mentioned types of walabummaa, but also can compete on the type of the future economic order, which Oromia will have after the public decision on the future type of walabummaa Oromia. That means we do have three political phases in front of us:
- now we are in the phase of bilisummaa, where all Oromo nationalists should cooperate with each other and coordinate our efforts to get rid of the now colonizing Gujile in Finfinne palace.
- then comes the walabummaa phase, in which the five Gadaa political parties will compete and be ruled by the public verdict when the Oromo people will choose our beneficial type of walabummaa.
- at last, the five Gadaa political parties can choose which type of economic order they want to implement in the future sovereign Oromia with the to be chosen type of walabummaa.
For instance Birmajii can be a communist party, Duuloo a socialist, Melba a social democrat, Muudana a liberalist and Roobale a nationalist conservative. Again and again, now what is important is that in the currently ongoing bilisummaa phase, all Oromo nationalists with the different convictions regarding the types of walabummaa and types the future economic arrangement must have tokkummaa of purpose to liberate the suffering Oromo nation from Abyssinian subjugation! There is nothing under the sun, which hinder us from working together in order to achieve this! Let’s open our minds, eyes and hearts! Rabbi/Waaqa bless the Oromo and Oromia!!

Regarding the types of Walabummaa mentioned above, Birmaji’s ‘Oromian Confederation (Union of Independent Nations?) is unlikely; Duuloo’s ‘Nation based Federation’ (Killil-Federation) is now chosen as a new vision by Gen Kamal’s OLF; Melaba’s ‘Independent Gadaa Republic’ is what Ob Galaasa’s OLF try to realize; Muudana’s choice of ‘Region based Federation’ (Gosa-Federation) is what Dr Nagaaso’s UDJ persue; last but not least, Roobale’s vision of ‘Oromian Centeralism’ (Union of Integrated Nations) is also most unlikely like the goal of Birmaji. Ob. Daud’s OLF seems to be open for the visions of Duuloo and Melba, whereas Dr. Berihanu’s G-7 is swinging between the visions of Duuloo and Muudana. The common denominator of these all Oromo movements is a ‘struggle for Bilisummaa/freedom and Gadaa/democracy! Let’s concentrate on this common Kaayyoo/goal and and fight in unison to liberate all nations and peoples in the Ethiopian empire from the currently ruling fascist and racist Gujile! Unfortunately, the endless conflict regarding the type of walabummaa Oromia, which we, the Oromo nation, will have in the future is still haunting us. The current move of the OLF-JJ in explicitly announcing to accept a ‘federal republic of Ethiopia’ is the case in point. I think this move is not different from the implicit acceptance of the same type of federalism by the OLF-SG in 1991 and as Ob Daud formed AFD together with Habesha forces in 2006. The OLF-QC had the same intention in heart as Ob Galaasa tried to build alliance with Ethiopian forces in Asmara around 1998. The only conflict we saw between QC and SG as AFD was formed was based on the fact that QC was excluded; and now the conflict we do see between JJ and SG is based on the reality that SG feels to be excluded from the process.
This conflict has nothing to do with the ideology regarding walabummaa Oromia I mentioned above. The RF-Model (Russian Federaion model) of walabummaa, i.e ‘Oromian Independence’, remains to be the CORE of the Kaayyoo-Oromo, as the Kaayyoo of the middle body of our Fighter-Jet (Oromo liberation movement). The UK-Model (United Kingdom model) walabummaa, which is ‘Oromian Ethiopia’ or genuine nation-based Ethiopian federation, where Oromia and Afaan Oromo will play a centeral role, can be considered as a move to the left wing of the Fighter-Jet and it is not less beneficial than the core Kayyoo. The US-Model (United States model), i.e ‘Orominized Ethiopia’, the region-based Ethiopian federation, in which the historical Oromian regions (Bisil, Bulluqi, Bultum, Garress, Makkodi, Nabe and Rooba) as well as Afaan Oromo will dominate the union, is like opting for the right wing of the Fighter-Jet, again this move is not disadvantageous as we usually used to think.
For me, these three Kaayyoo’s can be symbolized by the circular Abbaa-Gadaa’s tricolor: the inner circle, the white ring, being the core Kaayyoo (Oromian independence), the middle circle (the red one) is the more beneficial Kaayyoo (Oromian Ethiopia) and last but not least, the outer circle (the black) is the most beneficial Kaayyoo (Orominized Ethiopia). That is why, I do tend to think that the conflict between Oromo liberation forces regarding the type of walabummaa Oromia is artificial. But, we do see that the Kaayyoo is almost consolidating to only two versions. The two versions are like the two sides of the same and ONE coin: an ‘Independent Oromia’ on one side of the coin and an ‘Integrative Oromia’ or ‘language-based Federation’ with Oromia being the core of the future new Ethiopia, i.e the core of Oromian Ethiopia on the other side of the coin. Anyways, let’s be wise and coordinate the three parts of our liberation movement (the left wing, middle body and right wing) against the currently tormenting fascist and racist Gujile in order to achieve bilisummaa Oromo and then allow the Oromo public to decide on the type of walabummaa Oromia per referendum. Haa jabaannu!!

We now observe it or not, the train of bilisummaa Oromo and walabuummaa Oromia is moving slowly, but surely forwards. We started the journey from Djibouti (the status of ‘Abyssinized Ethiopia’, which was an assimilation process as the plan till 1974)—– and reached at Ayishe, the border town to Djibouti (where the milder plan of ‘Abyssinian Ethiopia’, i.e the domination without assimilation and started with the 1974 revolution);—– the further move is now towards Diredhawa (to realize an ‘independent Oromia’)—– or directley to Adaama (to forge ‘Oromian Ethiopia’, where Ethiopia is highly influenced by Oromummaa);—– and the final journy will be to Finfinne (towards ‘Orominized Ethiopia’, the most advantageous status of transforming the whole Ethiopia to Oromia), which will be continued, if we want the further journey and if the future condition of the regional politics favours the move.

- one group like to eat the YELLOW part of egg (want to achieve only the CORE ‘independent Oromia’, like Obbo Galaasa tries)
- another group want to eat only the WHITE part of egg (want to establish only an ‘integrated Ethiopia’ as Dr Nagaaso does)
- the third group want to eat both parts of egg (want to foster an ‘independent Oromia’ within an ‘integrated Ethiopia’, the vision of Obbo Leencoo).
Can’t we eat both parts? Which part of egg is unhealthy??

Form the above metaphors, the more descriptive and practical one is the symbolization using the Odaa tree. I like the symbol Odaa tree with its TWO main branches and its many sub-branches of the two. The two main branches are the two possible goals of the Oromian liberation movement: an ‘Independent Oromia’ and an ‘Integrative Oromia’. An ‘Independent Oromia’ being the establishement of Gadaa republic of Oromia; an ‘Integrative Oromia’ is the FREE Oromia integrating with the other nations in the region. The decision on these two main goals can only be by the public verdict of the Oromo people at large per referendum, i.e through the self-determination of the Oromo people. Thus the Kaayyoo of the Oromo liberation movement can be summarized as ‘Self-determination including Independence’!
