Kemal Gelchu & Co.: “OLF” Trojan Horse?

Excerpt from Part One:

On August 10, 2006, Oromo nationalist all over the world woke up to the news of Gen. Kemal Gelchu’s (a TPLF army general) defection to Eritrea and joining the Asmara Group of OLF (AKA the Dawud Ibsaa Group). Kemal Gelchu had been a very loyal soldier of the Ethiopian empire for many years both under the DERG and TPLF regimes. At the time of his defection to Eritrea, he was the commander of the TPLF 18th army division.

According to media reports, Kemal Gelchu simply walked across the border to Eritrea under cover of darkness from where he was stationed on Ethio-Eritrea border. What is more, he brought along 150 fully armed soldiers and, by some accounts, “tens of commanders” including Col. Abebe Geresu.

TPLF explained away the general’s defection as a disgruntled soldier who was denied promotion and chose to engage in “divisive activities”. Ethiopian TV reported: “Although his [Kemal Gelchu’s] colleagues repeatedly tried to correct the commander from his anti-government and inappropriate activities, the commander was not willing to change”.

    I do not see anything just full of garbege. The problem with OLF is not regions or religions but lack of vision and self confidence of leaders from the very beginning. Regions and religions are the term mostly abused by incomptent leaders of OLF for the past few years (especially Dawud Ibsa OLF).

    what i understood is that the dawud Ibsa group of OLF doest undersand what is on the ground right now,so I would like to advise them that to upgrade their poletical veiw and match it with realty !

    The question of independence or dependence can only be resolved legally by a a majority decision after a free and fair REFERENDEM under international observation. Saddly, this usually follows a lengthy and bitter war. Oromos have been through this for decades and there is no way back. It’s not Kamal ‘sor Daud’s or anybody else’s business to tell the people what they want either. The struggle takes it own course. It never ends until the cause ends. These ” great leaders” could, however, do their people a favour and stop dividing them. If they want to be relevant any more these “great leaders” could go a little futher, unite the organization and oromo people to remove the current regime from power with clear objective of holding a referendum on independence immediately after wayyanes become history. That way they can be remembered as leaders who led a nation to independence or otherwise in history. In the current form none of them can move an inch toward achieving this goal or uniting Ethiopia. Let kamal make habashas happy for a few more days. As soon as they realize that he has actually zero oromo support, hthey will dump him into their own rubbish bin, as far as oromos are cooncerned, kamal and co. are already decaying in the rubbish bin of history .     TPLF’s clamsy mission is exposed.
    TPLF is more organzed and more powerfull comapring to OLF but in this particular mission they failed misrably. I belive this is a blessing in disguse for Oromo strugle and failed mission for TPLF as this will bring Oromos together,

    I don’t think Teshite read the Kemal Gelchu & Co.: “OLF” Trojan horse? Part I or II. It seems like Teshite is working for OPDO (Meles’s little cadres.) Gadaa.com read all his postings and verify for yourslef that this person is an Oromo enemy.

    Now about the articles by Oromo Affair, I love it and it’s about time someone exposed the jijirama group of Kamal Gantu for what they are. I think every gadaa.com readers.

    correction:

    This claim has no substance what soever. This is pure conspiracy. If anything, the action of these brave people has revitalized the otherwise dormant, non-existent, organization. I commend them for that. They are hero in my book. Heroes are those who do what is right regardless of the consequences. Only lousy people accept and be content with the status quo.

    With the current modus operandi, this organization will not be able to set its feet in Oromia soil even if TPLF army completely withdraw today. The same Organization, 20+ years ago was not able to liberate one single village from DERG: east or west or south of Oromia and had to wait for TPLF arrived. This itself speaks volume.

    To me, these people are General Taddese Birru of our time, and I see them as such. Talk is cheap!.

    So, the writer claims that TPLF is omnipotent and it is able to get them wherever they are, even at their hiding place in Asmara. What does this mind set say about your state of mind? RUN!, RUN!, hide for your life! and that is ‘struggle’ in your book; is that not?

    Have you read a book authored by an Oromo scholar in Amaric language, entitled “Oromyaan Bafaraqaa”? His prediction is coming true!

    We were down trodden upon and put to shame first by the Amaras, and currently the Tigres are harassing, haranguing us and thoroughly exploiting our country.

    Who is next to rule upon the Oromo?

    A GURAGE with his surrogates, which started licking his boots since last week.

    It sounds as if anybody can subjugate and “out-fool” an Oromo. What a shame!

    Just if they change thier objective and program why not take the name that reflect it, unless they are “trajon Horse”? to make confusion ? OLF is not name but did, if they believe that Oromo follow them for this name, they are mistaken. Their may be some political acrobatists who jump from derg to woyane, from woyane if they like be Oromoo, once again Habasha then move to south, somale ….cameback to oromo when they lose. Such kind of individuals can not go any where like Kuma Damaksa as USA diplomat called him ” everywhere without going anywhere”. That is the same for those people who oribit around themselves.
    We will see them tomorrow caming back after they lose. When they play with the right of Oromo people , they doomed to fail.No more, they kill themselves and what we wish them is Absynian heaven if there is any.

    You guys talking about OLF program. You changed already when you joined Transitional Government of Ethiopia and shared power. Why you blame Jijirama function? They told public what you were covering from Oromo people.Of course i am not supporter of their marriage to Abasha too. Neither of you have no any vision for Oromo Struggle.     I am not sure if you have ever read the OLF program but , No change was made to OLF program when they joined transitional program. Even so I don’t agree with the changes made in 2004, the changes made in 2004 didn’t affect the core value of the OLF to the level Kamal Gelhu did. BTW I disagree with the changes made in 2004 as well. No one is saying OLF program shouldn’t be amended but this is about the core value of the organization, it is about self determination, it is about excluding the Oromia independence from the program. This is not an amendment, it is a complete rewrite. That is the difference my brother.

    In politics there is no permanent friend foe, but permanent interest. Those who are thinking politicians to be genuine are only genuine themselves. Condemining Obbo x y z alone is not the way out. The way out is STOP THEORIZING AND START ACTING.
    Therefor Icall on Oromo revolutionaries to work on calling NATIONAL CONGRESS wihin a year, to ellect able ABO leaders, instade of these miserably distractive persons calling themselves HOOGGANAA, while almost doing to organize our people at home and abroad.
    What people are doing spontaneously needs to be directed against the enemy when there are strong civic organizatuons based on the KAAYYOO. WBO alone is not strong enough to carry the load to freedom. Infact WBO will be real fightin machine, when the bulk of Oromo population gets organized and cotributes in all forms. Ofcourse there will always be Wolf monks praying between sheeps.
    Start by organizing the disfunctional Oromo community in diaspora, for they are in better situation than at home. Calling oneself a leader is, when you are leading something. Remember, ADDI ADDA HINBUUNE EEGEEDHA.
