Graphics: Oromiyaan Xiiqii Galaanaa is shown here with the Oromiyaan national flag even though she runs for Ethiopia at the Olympic Games; Oromiyaa is a stateless country in the Horn of Africa. There are many other Oromiyaan Olympians at the London Olympic Games – who run for other countries, such as Bahrain, Norway, Turkey, UAE, and/or even Azerbaijan. Please read this report by Ayyaantuu.com.

Tiki Gelana of Oromiyaa took the Gold in Women’s Marathon in London on Sunday, August 5, 2012, by clocking the Olympic record time of 2:23:07. Priscah Jeptoo of Kenya came in second in 2:23:12; Petrova Arkhipova of Russia finished third.

please don’t approve division among us,. Ethiopians. We are one people. when Gelana won all Ethiopians were there whose had a chance to be there and celebrate with her. Please think positive. Don’t tell us she is from any where but from Ethiopia.
    Thank you.

    HI “one ethiopia”,
Thank you for your opinion, if you think for the true unity of the people you should not come under the provocative approach “one ethiopia” which built by force and already partially gone by force aka Eritrea Or a Great Tigray Republic when they loose power. Do not accuse Oromos as against unity, but the Oromo nation advocates for the true unity based on respect and common understanding among all nations and nationalities in a new Vision for the Identity concern a similar to Czech VS Slovak.
But the response for your provocative unity is that No force on earth can bring the true unity of the people by any force as it proved by Romans or recently by great power Russians or the strongest ex.Yugoslavian army where in all cases Identity Nationalism won over territorial unity in transforming the Caucasus and the Balcans to the stability zone and as the fast growing in economic and self governance- as the result of self determination. Which is true also for Oromos as the 2nd largest nation in Africa has a historical responsibility in the Horn from the Staus quo to stabibility and development of the Horn.
Your “one ethiopia” as a dying empire is the prison of nations and nationalities to be dismantle for the new vision of unity as a
good neighbourhood and supportive true relations in culture, commerce and trading rather than suffering as a suffocated nation for nothing.
Dibaba, Gelana and Tariku represent the Oromo nation for their Identity and Oromiyaans around the globe are celebrating for the Oromiyaan Olympians in social media thanks to Gadaa.com by Saliha Sami song!!
    Viva la Oromiyaa!!

Oromiya is a regional state in Ethiopia as much as i know. So its wrong to say that Oromiya is a stateless country in the horn of Africa. Eventhough she is from that part of a country, she participated under Ethiopian athletes group in Olympics. In whole its a victory for Ethiopia as the medal counts for the country and not in the name of Oromiya. She could have pinned an Ethiopian flag too along with Oromiya flag on her jersey. Well done and congrats for victory.

This kind of nonsense is rejected by oromians. You are wasting cyber space. Speak for yourselves. A lot of us do not share your idea.

Having Oromian name and getting gold for the country called Ethiopia is well protected under current regime. Mr. Zenawi and his
leadership surpass any regime that have surfaced in Ethiopia. Yes, currently Oromos have the name Oromo, region Oromia, all
with defined boundaries. This gains are constitutionally guaranted as well as protected. More of it, there are Gadaa centers, Museums built and all young Oromos could learn about Oromos past History, right now. Therefore, I am surprised to find Oromia
stamped on the Uniforms of Oromo athlets. This may even make Mr Zenawi regime shine better than OLD and dead Kings.

Viva Jolle Oromia, bring in More golds. They are very cute and hard workers. We don’t just love them, we adore them for they
    are own blood and flesh.

    Editors,

We are a people at war with a system that was imposed on us for over a century. We are not iondependent nation. As we strive towards formation of our state hood, people such as Menelik should not be allowed to spew their hate in this plateform. We have tried to be all inclusive, but a red line should be marked.

In another note, is I could not find an original roster of the Ethiopian olympians to find the actual name of Tiki. Is it Tiki or Xiqii and we should make it clear to the people to name her family given name.
