Ethiopia: Bulcha Demeksa on Gidada’s Decision to Join UDJ instead of OFC – “Not Disappointed”
In a comment Mr. Bulcha Demeksa, the co-chairman of the newly formed Oromo opposition coalition, the Oromo Federalist Congress (OFC), gave to Capital, an English-language weekly in Ethiopia, Mr. Demeksa has expressed that he held no grudges about Dr. Negasso Gidada’s (the former president of Ethiopia) decision to join the multi-national opposition group, UDJ, instead of OFC.
He added that Medrek, which he called “the best hope” of Ethiopia, would be strengthened by the membership of both Dr. Gidada and Mr. Seye Abraha, the ex-minister of defense. OFC and UDJ, along with five other opposition parties, are members of the major opposition coalition, Medrek. – READ MORE

The newspaper also reported that Mr. Demeksa, who served as the Executive Director of the World Bank’s Africa Group I Constituency and who successfully set up the first private bank (Awash Bank) in Ethiopia in 1994, led a group of Members of Parliament (MP’s) to oppose the latest loan agreement amounting $349-million between the Meles Zenawi government and the Chinese Export and Import Bank (EXIM), a financing bank fully owned by the Chinese government. Calling the loan endorsement process “rushed”, Mr. Demeksa criticized the lack of transparency and conditions of the dealing with the Chinese government. The loan will reportedly fund an expressway between Addis Ababa (Finfinne) and Adama; Mr. Demeksa fears that the Zenawi government has taken the costly loan in order to politicize the project for votes in the upcoming general election. – READ MORE.

Well, if and only if UDJ acceptas and respects Kilil-federation, then the move of Negasso Gidada is not disappointing. But if UDJ remains to be unitarist, Gidada is a failure, not only a disappointment. Other wise Medrek is only a “better hope”, but not the “best hope”, AFD definetly will be the best hpe! Having Regional (Ethiopian) Union of Nations (RUN) as envisioned by both Medrek and AFD is really good, but Medrek did it based only on the consensus of involved parties, whereas AFD will have the same result based on referendum by the concerned public. AFD’s action is the lasting result, whereas that of Medrek is only temporary. The hope is because of the fact that both Medrek and AFD are on the same middle line, contrary to the left side fronts needing to achieve Unconditional National Independence (UNI) with out a possible union and contrary to the right side parties striving for Unconditional Regional (Ethiopian) Integration in a form of assimilating all nations in to Amharinya speakers!

Fronts of UNI as left side force, forces of RUN as middle ground and forces of URI are right sided parties

Fronts of UNI (Unconditional National Independence) are on left side ot the political spectrum in the empire, forces of RUN (Regional Union of Nations) including both Medrek and AFD on the middle ground and forces of URI (Unconditional Regional Integration) are on the right side.
