(OLF News, October 3, 2009): OLF News correspondents reported from Finfinnee (Addis Ababa) that two young Oromo rising stars, whose songs have been extremely popular among the Oromo population, male artist Haacaaluu Hundasaa and female artist Dirribee Gadaa, have been abducted by the TPLF-led Ethiopian government armed-personnel on September 15, 2009, have been reportedly taken to the notorious so called Ma’ikelawi prison and are under severe torture for allegedly “glorifying Oromo fighters through singing”.
The two artists have been increasingly popular for their songs, which praise Oromo heroes who gave their lives for the just cause of the Oromo people. Artist Dirribee Gadaa is a member of a music band, known as “Band of Oromo Heroes”, recently formed in Eastern Shoa zone of Oromia. The video clip of one of her extremely-loved songs have been released, and is currently available on YouTube and several other Oromo websites.
In a related news, an Oromo university student Taayyee Danda’aa, whose arrest have been reported by OLF News two weeks ago, is reportedly severely tortured in Ma’ikelawi prison for more than 15 days and has currently disappeared. The report added that it is not known at this moment whether student Taayyee is dead or alive. It is to be recalled that OLF News has reported arrests of several Oromos from Finfinnee and Oromia in recent weeks.

We ask international community to put pressure on this regime to stop torturing innocent Oromoo artists and students in particular and all Oromoo population in general. This regime makes Oromoo arrests and toeture his everyday business. So we ask international community to speak up gainst these crime to exert presure on Ethiopian regime.

I agree with the previous commentator Jamal that International pressure is the key to alert such torture for being an artist and expressing their way of freedom. Where is democracy if one in his/her own Country can not freely sing and express their agony. From now on it is upto to all Oromos in the world and not just to those who live in Ethiopia. Isn’t time to Unite and defeat your enemy rather than finger pointing at each other. For all those who violate the basic human rights, is not a leader but a dictator and is time for you to leave in peace. Otherwise your wrong doing decision will come back and hunt you in the lives coming ahead of you either by the International tribunal courts or by the people who are bieng treated unfairly.
